Anyone who resides in the state of Oregon see this?
TimTuolomne comments on Apr 21, 2020:
I guess I'll cross off Oregon from my places to visit (or travel through) list. California, Washington State, Colorado, New Mexico, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Virginia and Louisiana are already on my list of places to never go. Pretty soon I'll have to fly to the states that remain Constitutional.
As always, predictable.

Apparently a reminder is necessary. 99% of fatalities from COVID-19 are those with pre-existing conditions, like cancer, cardiovascular disease, smokers, high blood pressure - all regardless of age. Only 1% of fatalities are of those with no identified pre-existing conditions (which also means they may have had a condition not identified) The oft-repeated statement "We shouldn't re-open the economy until we are sure the danger is passed," is ridiculous. What danger? This is not much different than the flu, which also knocks down those with pre-existing conditions. Medical professionals expect those with these conditions to be taken out at any time by these things, despite their best efforts. So should we be afraid of 1% of even 6% of the mortality rate? In reality that is about quarter of your risk of dying in your car. Are you afraid of that so much that you will stop driving, or demand that the government shut down the economy until it is safe enough to drive? No? So why are you not demanding the government lift these draconian lockdowns???? https://informationisbeautiful.net/visualizations/covid-19-coronavirus-infographic-datapack/

Interesting that the headline is about money and not the lives saved. Buried deep in the article, I found this: "Fatal car crashes decreased from 496 to 237 over the same 22 day period, the survey said." These numbers are fatalities in the same magnitude as COVID-19 deaths. No wonder Fox didn't place that in the headline. We didn't shut the nation down because of the 40,000 deaths on the highways in the US in 2017. Business as usual. No one is afraid to drive to the grocery store at risk of maiming or death, but we are afraid of dying of the newest version of the common cold so much that we shut down the nation???

Congress finally has its control over the population it has always sought, and the Constitution has prevented. Give this a good look folks. It is almost entirely against the principles of the Constitution. The Federal government was never supposed to have this kind of power, for very good reasons. There is a statement in the document which admits that the best plan allows for differences in localities. This is the key admission of the main fault of the document. Localities should be in control. Why make it an exception to over-arching control??? Tell your reps that you are against this folks, while you have the chance. Tell them this should be in the hands of your local counties; not even the states, and definitely not the Feds. “It is amazing that people who think we cannot afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, and medication somehow think that we can afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, and medication and a government bureaucracy to administer it.” - Thomas Sowell.

I see no reason to object to their little club, secret handshakes, and so on. The Masons I know are community oriented, and tend to expect more of recruits than recruits expect of themselves, thereby raising them to become more self-disciplined, responsible citizens. That includes reverence for God. I was in the Boy Scouts. In those days it was a more traditional organization. I found their traditions simpler, but similar the Masons. The "secrecy" was merely to advance the members' skills and expertise in the traditions.

If you bother to study the man, this is who he always was, and who he still is. Those who need someone to tell them what to think are unfortunately unaware that the media is owned by the Left in this country, and is only too willing. So they believe every lie, half-truth and fact taken out of context given by the media to smear this great man. It isn't their fault that they are treasonous. They know no better. But the media does, and so does the power-mad leadership of the Left. They know that Leftism is morally bankrupt, and historically proven invalid. They don't care. Power today is their motivation, and so imbued in that desire are they, that they honestly believe it does not matter what regime occurs, as long as it does not limit their power. Just like the Bolshevik intellectuals who were among the first murdered. They have no idea that is their fate. And if they do have any idea, they are sure it won't happen today.

Hilarious. The thing that makes this simulation accurate transcends all faiths, beliefs, and political affiliations: Emotional immaturity; the inability to accept another's truth, and the unrestrained judgment that results. Maturity allows better listening, as we are secure in our own truths, and what we know beyond ourselves. We have no need to defend ourselves, or what we know. So we are not motivated to exaggerate or speculate. And we are not offended by anything. And we are not motivated to condemn anyone else, unless it is to agree as a juror in a court of law, and even then it isn't personal. It is a matter of required social responsibility. And we have no need to speak, unless it is necessary to move our agenda forward. And that agenda is firstly God (including atheism, which is a religion), family, nation, and career. When we are not effective, we learn, and/or accept. That's it. Simple.

1. In 2018 there were 80,000 flu deaths in the US. We did not shut the nation down. We did not consider burying people in Central Park. The COVID-19 fatalities in the US are now 34,500, and logarithmic curves of the trajectory show a peak is near. 2. COVID-19 has a faster spread rate than the flu, and had 10 weeks to run amok here, with 40,000 travelers from Wuhan to the US in that time. It is likely that most of us have been exposed, and as testing of all people begins, the data agrees. 3. 99% of the COVID-19 deaths are of people with pre-existing conditions, like cardiovascular disease, or smokers. That gives all of us who are healthy only a one in 100,000 chance of dying from COVID-19. We are more likely to die going to the grocery store. Given the fact that this is the first time COVID-19 is appearing in humans, the caution is an intelligent response, however the time for that has clearly passed. The low rates of infection in countries like Sweden, which did not practice social distancing, seem to prove it.

Wow, this is the granddaddy of all conspiracy theories! Remember, anything invisible can be asserted to be ANYTHING, and you can't prove otherwise. I can not speak authoritatively on anything in the piece except "geo-engineering." As an engineer, I can say for sure that there is no engineering at all in their claims. Firstly, all of the power generated by human beings in ONE YEAR is 100 times weaker than the energy that strikes the Earth from the Sun in ONE DAY, and the Sun is the largest forcing factor of Earthly weather. Secondly, the power required to affect the weather for 5 minutes would require a device so large that it could never be hidden, because the energy would be so high that it would require massive conductors, and even more massive insulation to prevent the operators from being vaporized. A thunderstorm and a 1 megaton nuclear weapon are about the same energy. Imagine trying to control or focus that. The ONLY place that will happen with Earthly materials in in your imagination. Finally, there is the problem of how you convert electrical or any other source of energy into something that can affect the weather. You can heat up the atmosphere for a short time in a small area with a nuclear bomb. Then what? (Remember a 1 megaton bomb delivers ten million times smaller energy than strikes the Earth every day from the Sun.) And good luck testing your method and hiding it. From their ridiculous assertions about geo-engineering, I conclude that the whole article is fiction.

That's right. Every news outlet in the US owned by socialists has been hemorrhaging red because they have almost completely disgraced themselves with the American public, and needed an infusion of sensationalism handily provided by a virus a lot like the flu, with which they are nicely returning to profitability. So they are more than willing to throw gasoline on that fire. And the Left has benefited from the existence of a phenomenon that those needing someone to tell them what to think exist in the media, and have sought to control them all - including Fox now. So the Left is only too happy to support them by sneaking that into the recovery bill. I have no doubt that the same is happening in Canada.

1. SARS-COV2 genome sequencing done in the US shows no markers typical of the known splicing carriers that are impossible to avoid in gene splicing. 2. The connection to the genes in the species of bats in the papers referenced in this article, to the the genes found in the SARS-COV2 sequencing done in the US, shows a much older forensic path than the pangolin. This indicates that the recent gene splicing done in the Chinese labs - even if it somehow happened as claimed, was far older than the latest version infecting humans. So it almost certainly jumped species and became human-transmissable without being genetically engineered by humans. 3. Non-geneticists are venturing their conclusions about the virus, and no geneticist participated in the article. 4. logically speaking, there would be almost no likelihood of anyone working with such a dangerous virus being careless, because they would be the first victims. And the military would need both an antidote, and a plan for tactical use of the virus which would be most favorable to its own side. This epidemic has not originated in a way, nor been handled in China consistent with either probability. As an engineer, able to read the gene sequencing papers done in the US, I find this article not credible, irresponsible, and stinking of the kind of fear that drove us to overreact and cripple our economy.

Any tyrannical regime has the ability to rewrite history and "reality" to its own wishes. Every event - including the virus, is spun to its advantage. Even the loss of millions of people can have an "upside" for them, as long as the population is under control: Fewer mouths to feed in a country so large that "wet markets" are a necessity, a continuing example of the consequences of disobeying the regime, and an opportunity to force the population to "believe" the US is responsible. That has the effect that some do actually believe, because no one is allowed to openly speak otherwise, and that belief creates doubt in the World, also to their advantage.

This a mindset that presumes to speak for other's rights. Guys like Musk often act as if defending our rights to privacy is unreasonable, and cite polls that have been worded to extract that result. whether or not people like Musk are consciously part of undermining the Constitution, is irrelevant. It is what is happening.

Is technology a friend or foe?
TimTuolomne comments on Apr 9, 2020:
False question. Blaming faceless "things" or invisible forces is a deception. There is a reason our Constitution calls for justice for individuals, and not groups, or corporations, or churches, or homeowner associations.....or "technology."

@dmatic, "...ensures a basic minimum standard of living for everyone." Is not the study of economics; it is but one point of view that comes under the heading of Marxism.

TimTuolomne comments on Apr 8, 2020:
Yeah, do we want a bunch of hand-grenade throwers joining the Republican Party? That would make us as wrong as Democrats say we are. I encourage them to join the Libertarians, among many who seem to be Marxists, although unaware.

Yeah, I find even people I once respected as rational, disbelieve the facts like these, and arbitrarily claim they are fake or "cherry picked." Yet they cherry pick the data that shows the opposite and ignore what scientists actually produce, like these from Tony Heller, and former Greenpeace guy Patrick Moore, which are ignored for no good reason.

There are companies in my neighborhood who do stuff like that, and they are just barely getting by, because most of us avoid them. By taking a stand to pander to the limited market consisting mainly of Progressives, businesses like these are placing politics ahead of the bottom line, and are not likely to succeed. There are lots of examples of companies - even large companies like Nike, that are taking a big hit making decisions like that.

Before asking about "distributing wealth," one should ask if it is right to try. It isn't. Only equality of opportunity is valid. Only Marxism would propose such a question.

This fellow is talking inside of the larger picture of the Left's strategy of destructive criticism with the intent not of compromise or resolution, but intentional division, for one of the most effective military objectives: divide and conquer. The reason it works is that it resonates with the worst part of our human nature. It encourages us to abandon our civil restraint. And it enslaves all who would engage in angry condemnation. Everything this fellow describes is within that phenomenon. https://youtu.be/rSHL-rSMIro
