"The surest way to manipulate someone into condemnation of their friends and families, and into abandonment of good conduct, is to convince them without their realization that they have something to fear." Now people automatically fear anything the media promotes as the latest threat, without hesitation or question, and justify their reaction by condemnation of anyone who is not living in fear and has the nerve to point out the obvious. Given human nature and the lowest common denominator effect, the Internet opened the door back to the Dark Ages in terms of disinformation and superstition. Books written before universities became political, eg before the Bayh-Dole Act had them selling their intellectual integrity for funding by the government, had to be peer reviewed by legitimate and unbiased boards before being published, and those were our references for knowledge. That is no longer true.
