For those paying attention, it WILL be proved that the Department of Homeland Security paper published a few years ago called for draconian scare tactics, justified by the rationale that in a "free society" compliance to a potential threat like a pandemic, compliance could not be assured and the population would be decimated. In a true pandemic, half of everyone you know would have been dead in March. The closest most of us are to COVID-19 is that we know someone who knows someone who died, and almost always someone who was diabetic, overweight, a smoker or with cancer. Naysayers will trot out the exceptions as the rule. Once our population was scared out of their wits, and power driven bureaucrats and politicians tasted the sweet control beyond constitutional rights, it gained a life of its own. Now anyone can see in "Information is Beautiful" (except those who don't want to) that 99% of the deaths due to COVID-19 are of those with multiple pre-existing conditions, and that the death rate to healthy people is around .08% - less than the flu. Facts. CDC data. And more effective, more pervasive testing reveals how pervasive actually are these mild infections, NOT increases. A paper published at Homeland Security several years ago proposed using scare tactics to manipulate the American public into compliance if a "pandemic" were to ever occur, rationalizing that a free country would not comply, and that most of its citizens would not survive. But this is not a pandemic. A pandemic is when half of everyone you know are dead by last March. Most of us only know someone who knows someone who died of COVID-19, and almost all of those were in nursing homes or already suffering deadly complications. Overreach? Oh yeah, and now its time for lawsuits, recalls, campaigns against the Democrats, who are driving all of this stuff, because they are philosophically Constitutional revisionists. Republicans are and have always been defenders of the original Constitution, except for a few posers - Democrats who wanted to get elected in Republican districts.
