When it comes to World Trade, there are a couple places where China is going to be Much More Attractive a Partner than the USA or Most Western Nations. #1. China is unlikely to care about your Political or Social situation. As long as you’re likely to be stable enough to avoid disrupting their business, they’re not likely to care whether you’re a tinpot dictator out exterminating large chunks of your population or ... #2. China is unlikely to make a fuss about whatever your rate of pollution is. #3. China is unlikely to care about child labor being used in hazardous conditions. #4. China has a population 5x the size of the USA ... when they say that they’ll buy “everything” a country produces, there’s a good chance they will ... even if only acting as a middle man. China’s eventual, long term goal might be World Domination by Communism but, I suspect that they are in no hurry. China doesn’t “come to the trade table” with a lot of Moral, Rights, Environmental or Other “Requirements”. This makes it simple for any Country to say “yes” to the Chinese and keep on doing whatever it is they’ve been doing. China is willing to exploit any aspect that they can see to exploit. It’s the way they are, the way they deal with their own populace. I suspect that, as China moves into various countries, new markets, competitors will find themselves frozen out or stuck in marginal areas. I suspect the host Nation to naturally be very ... most ... supportive of China and the Chinese businesses ... over any newcomer. I heard a talk where the guy said that China isn’t looking to necessarily “take over” or “manage” other Countries ... It should be noted and easily understood that any Communist Regime simply NEVER “gives” stuff away. There is ALWAYS a price. They want preferential treatment and access to resources. They want greater access and influence to the governments. It’s perhaps unfortunate that the majority of this problem ... these problems ... fall on the shoulders of locals but ... they are actually the best people to deal with it. I think perhaps rotating a bunch of military personnel into these areas on a regular basis for the purpose of interdiction of smugglers and capture of “coyotes” would be a worthwhile exercise for them and give them a purpose other than simply that of waiting to be shipped overseas to fight. I’m not sure why the Border area isn’t a place that could be used regularly for air and ground “training exercises”. The terrain and conditions are somewhat similar to many places in the Middle East and, in fact, it seems that many of the problems are similar as well. It seems like it might very well be a great place to learn how to integrate all of the technological advances and equipment into useful additions to our forces.

First off, I don’t think that there is anyone anywhere that will disagree with the concept of Provable Climate Change (scientifically or otherwise) it’s when you throw in the “Man Made” aspect ... and claim that it’s “Scientifically Backed” (or any other “Scientific ........” phrase) that the conversation falls to pieces. Not to mention using “SkepticalScience.com” as a source. That’s almost as bad as using Bill Nye as a “source”. Part of the problem I suppose is that people consider adding the cachet of “science” to be synonymous with ... the case is closed on the subject. People ... most people ... who are not familiar with what science IS think it is somehow the “Final Answer” when really it’s a pile of complex theories that are subject to slow or fast change depending on the arrival of new data. Sometimes ... often times ... “science” is subject to “political” determination ... the Sumerians knew the earth is a globe and revolves around the sun. The Greeks knew at least that the earth was not only a globe but had a pretty good idea of its diameter and circumference. The Europeans in the 1100-1450’s knew that the earth was flat and everything revolves around the earth. They knew it to the point that Copernicus did not have his works published until he was dead and Galileo spent most of his life imprisoned/constrained by the Church (which was extremely political at that time ... if it ever actually changed). Then, there is the recent release that the “Big Bang” may not be a correct theory. I tend to lend a great deal of credence to hard sciences and be leery of placing too much emphasis or faith in theoretical sciences although I tend to accept long standing theory as at least a fairly reliable basis to operate under. It seems that people of Neo-Liberal or “Left” bent are overly willing to abandon science, or indeed any sort of “proof” and operate ... think ... based on “consensus” ... if enough like minded people “agree” that something is so, then they are willing to take it as “fact”. However, they tend to display the typical responses of those who are not “really” sure ... who are “guilty” of having no actual facts ... by becoming almost hysterical ... vociferous ... in promoting their thought process ... in defending their thought process. In fact, this is one of my ways of gauging how well a person knows ... how comfortable they are with ... what they’re saying. The more aggressively they push ... the louder they get ... the more frantic they become ... the less they are likely to be basing ...

Our “Representatives” got all worked up by the idea that President Trump decided to institute tariffs on Mexico over this problem when it’s THEIR FAULT that he has to go that route. Trump is using the ONLY Tools he has available to do the WORK that They Refuse to Do. If all he has is a “Hammer”, well, by God ... he’ll use that hammer. Congress (at this time mostly the House) could go a Very Long way to FIXING this problem permanently. BOTH Parties in BOTH Chambers have spoken for DECADES about how they Need to Fix the Problem but NEITHER of them have Even Tried. THIS House seems to actually DELIBERATELY be making things Worse. Anarchy tends to be rather brutal and short lived and not a place 99.9% (or even less) of ANY Population could live ... or would live. I would agree with the “Just Compensation” Requirement. I would also add that the “Taking” MUST be for “Government Necessity” ONLY (Roads, Bridges, Infrastructure) and NEVER for items such as “Shopping Plazas or ANY Other Private-for-Profit Reason. If there is no other metric that can be used, then surely, there is Property Tax being levied on the Property in question or a “Fair Market Value” that can be used to determine the value. On one hand this sucks because a Farmer or someone simply “Holding” land for future purposes or consideration does everything possible to keep the Property Taxes as low as possible but ... perhaps a New, Current Assesment should be taken by the Owner prior to the “Settlement”.

The information on Illegals ... or Illegal Voting (the Dead, Double Votes, Illegitimate Voters) ... are a pretty big issue. There seems to be pretty solid evidence that some states have many more than a couple hundreds of these votes cast. Worse, to me, is the issue of properly cast Legal Votes getting “Lost” in some car trunk someplace ... either those completely “misplaced” or those “suddenly found”. If India can get a pretty accurate vote done with some 400+ Million Voters and Paper Votes, we should be able to do the same. We should require Positive ID to a Correct Registration. We should require only ONE DAY to Vote (make Election Day a Holiday). There should be NO “Same Day Registration” because it takes time to even minimally Verify such Registrations. The ONLY “Write In” Votes should be from those who are Serving Overseas in Military Type situations unless the “Write-Ins” are sent in Duly Notarized via Registered Mail. The concept of Vote by Phone or On-Line is mind boggling.

Having had an Ex-Chinese National (Escapee; now a US Citizen) girlfriend for several years, I’ve watched the moves of China with a bit of extra insight and interest. The “farms” and “farmers” they were talking about were typical “village” ... small family unit “farmers” ... this was being done for two purposes ... increase number of available “factory workers” and to be able to consolidate several small “village farm” plots into land units suitable for “commercial style” farming. It is true that this “Trade War” ... like any “War” ... will have its cost ... it’s pain ... However, the “Trade” involved on the Chinese side are items of limited availability and uncountable necessity. The swine flu has claimed over 200 Million of their pigs, an important meat source. The army worm is moving into Northern Mainland China, damaging their corn, soy and grains in general. The tariffs they levy ... the Trade they discourage ... has made them move to Alternate ... and by nature, More Expensive, Sources. This higher expense acts as a “tariff” itself. Further, the “Sources” that are the new suppliers, are selling materials they actually need for their own domestic use. One cannot increase ones’ ability to produce “foodstuffs” on demand. As the “New Suppliers” ... who might find themselves only temporary ... sell their stock to China but need to replace that “stock” somehow. To take pigs/hogs as an example; China has turned to Canada rather than the USA, to fill their needs for pork/pigs but as happy as Canada is to sell their livestock, they need to replace it from somewhere else at a reasonable price. So Canada turns to the USA who has a sudden surplus. Our farmers won’t get Top Dollar but it is doubtful that USA Pigs will go to waste. This happens to be largely true for soy and grains as well ... One of the problems China has, is a population well over 1.4 Billion (that’s about a ratio of 4:1 Citizens) and those people must eat. They can put tariffs on foodstuffs if they wish, but the people must eat

The question presented by the Pro Life/Choice is one that is mostly of Moral Integrity. Most people who are Against Abortion consider that a fetus at whatever stage is a “Human Life” and therefore precious. They tend to be at least Morally Honest and are “Pro-Life” in all incidences ... they simply think “Life” is a special status given by the Creator. Most people who are For Abortion consider that, until a fetus is “Born and Breathing” it is “Not a Life” and therefore discardable. They tend to be Morally Dishonest however because they will take a stance to “Save Lives” at every opportunity ... as long as it suits their narrative. For instance, Children Illegals, Children Refugees, Death Row Inmates are “Lives that are Precious”. I think the recent decision to “Allow” a “Live Born” child to be considered “abortable” has caused a lot of the new hyper turmoil. Since I’m not great “Respecter of Human Life”, I originally considered abortion to be an acceptable practice. My views on this have changed however to where I am “Against Abortion” although not for any Moral or Religious Reasons. My personal view is that Abortion is not in the “Best Interest” of Society. People who get abortions as a matter of “convenience” ... that is, because having that child at that time in their lives would be “inconvenient” ... are causing a tremendous waste of high quality genetic material that Society can ill afford to lose. This is a much longer topic than I have the time to go into now ...

Outside of a “warm fuzzy feeling”, I see none. Debate ... from school many of you might recall Debate Teams ... to be of any value, requires an opponent ... an opposing view in order to be productive. In actuality, the best “Debates” came from systems where, for a period of time, Team #1 debates FOR a particular topic and Team #2 debates AGAINST that topic, THEN at “Half Time” the debate SWITCHES where Team #1 debates AGAINST ... and etc. By being forced to argue against YOUR viewpoint much is learned ... if you are paying attention. It requires that you look at something from “inside the head” of your opponent. It requires you to TRY to Understand HOW they could possibly think like that. Once you’ve “been there” you can see the flaws in Your Own Viewpoint and can work to strengthen Your Argument in the future. So ... I don’t know about the definition being used for “asshole” so it’s hard to say if they have merit. Somehow I doubt that there’s a “cure”. In fact, while she makes passing mention that this “third” wave is similar to the “second” wave she actually seems to miss how true that is. If Feminism is/was the struggle to have the same Legal Rights as everyone else (though they simply said; “Men” ) then it was and is great ... as long as they want the “Same Rights” (demanding “Equal Rights” is synonymous with “Special Rights” ). In the 60’s ... the “Second Wave” ... Feminism plunged off the rails and dove into the “Dark Side” where it has remained ever since. The narrator above says that the “Second Wave” was mostly about “Reproductive Rights” which I think was a minor component of the “Second Wave”. Up until the 60’s it was often said that women had a “Place” in society and, that they should “KNOW Their Place”. This was absolutely true but usually misunderstood by Women ... especially Young Women. A “Woman’s PLACE in Society”? Women had No PLACE ... Women ARE “Society”. That is not to say that they weren’t often taken advantage of, or treated poorly, or were even respected by everyone. However, up until the 60’s women were the backbone and heart of society. They were the underlying foundation and structure upon which “society” was built. In terms of gender, Females have ALWAYS been the more important of the Two Genders. While this might have largely gone unsaid, it remained nevertheless true. The proof of this was made plain thousands of times over thousands of years and it has been made plain in Every Species where Males and Females exist be they Animals or Plants. In any of the “Higher Life Forms” If there are no ... or insufficient ... Females, there IS NO Future. In Humans this is even more pronounced. Women bore the children. More, women “raised” the children in every sense of the word. Women imparted knowledge, morals, a sense of community, an understanding of shared responsibility, an understanding of “right” and “wrong” and ... Women CREATED and Maintained “Society”. As people emerged from childhood and became young adults, they emerged as what their Mothers had formed them to be. The “Feminists” of the 60’s mocked, castigated and shamed Young Women into believing that performing the duties ... assuming the role ... of Mother, of Housewife, of Woman ... was to lead an empty life, to be wasting of one’s time, to being stupid and dullard and of no account or importance. Tariffs ... regardless of who pays them ... are imposed on items being IMPORTED to the USA (in this case) to make those items more expensive to the consumer ... as well as brings in more funds for the Government that imposes them. Basically, if YOU buy a product from China that has a high tariff on it, YOU are signaling YOUR willingness to PAY Our Government for that privilege. That’s on YOU. You decide that You simply HAVE to have that item and essentially “Accept that Self Imposed Tax”. Could you Do Without that Widget? Probably. Could you find Someone Else who makes that Widget? Possibly. Can you find a Domestic Manufacturer (non tariff entity) for this Widget? More likely the longer this goes on. The idea is to find that “Sweet Spot” where the tariff will force the price up enough to make an alternative Widget more attractive ... to make Alternative Manufacturers see making that Widget as a Profitable Venture ... unless, of course, the Widget was simply unnecessary to begin with. Can China (in this case) help to defray (subsidize) this increase on their goods? Maybe. That would hurt China even more though and might even cause the tariff to go up further. If those widgets become more expensive than the market will bear from that source (China) and widgets are still important enough, someone else will step up to make them. Will China putting tariffs on Our Products hurt Us? Yes. There are many sectors that will “Feel the Pain” which is unfortunate BUT many of Those Sectors have already been “Feeling the Pain” of a Thousand Razor Cuts as China was “allowed” to take their industries, was “allowed” to skew Our Industries to where They RELIED on China to be the Primary Market, the Primary Consumer ... now they need to change to a Different Product Mix. Yes it’s going to “hurt” ... it’s BEEN Hurting for Decades ... this is an Adjustment that MUST be Made in order to remain relevant ... in order to survive. Every Day ... Week ... Month ... etc ... that we refuse to deal with the “Pain”, the PAIN will simply get to be MORE of a Deterent.

I would hope IDW would avoid this “epithet” altogether in whatever form it is presented. Either there IS a Free Flow of Ideas and Opinions ... or there IS NOT. I’m not sure I even like the term “Justice” for that itself is variable and open to interpretation. Adding any Qualifier indicates an even larger amount of variability. Using a term such as “Justice” ... an undefinable concept is not logical ... adding a Qualifier makes it even less logical.

It depends on WHY it’s “Diverse”. Having worked many jobs in the Greater NYC Area, I have experienced “Diversity” as a Corporate Culture in which the Diversity was due to hiring the best people available for the job regardless of any other aspect. These companies were great to work in and there was never any friction outside of perhaps over competitiveness. I have experienced “Diversity” that was a “Political Requirement” under one form or other of “Affirmative Action”. These companies were miserable and generally performed poorly as those people who were hired due to “Affirmative Action” quotas were frequently not well qualified and were completely aware of why they were hired. An employee or co-worker who feels that they are “protected” in their position not only performs poorly and as though they’re doing someone a “favor” but they also tend to feel free to agitate and cause dissent. Personally, I left at least 3 companies that were victims of “Affirmative Action” simply because of obvious disunity and lack of harmony which I considered to be potentially harmful to my own productivity and career.

Well ... regardless of what they say; “Straight White Man Bad...” there’s still an awful lot of them in the field. How long can you get a “Straight White Man” to badmouth ... HIMSELF? Also ... as the Campaign gets under way, there STILL seems to be quite a few “White Mans” running and most of them seem to be essentially “Straight”. Does the Left REALLY want to Shoot Themselves in the Foot given the Lunatic Leanings of many of the “Alternate” Candidates? Currently their best probables look like Bernie or Biden ... you know ... “Straight White Mans” The Left Base is many things synonymous with Stupid and even Pretty Stupid BUT the “Leadership” of the Left has a Clear Agenda but actually never qualified as being Stupid. The question though is why should he be concerned about this at all? Holder was Impeached by the House for the grievous cover up of facts related to Fast and Furious ... a gun running scheme set up and run by the DOJ. Barr on the other hand is simply being accused of “Lying to Congress” which the DemLeft is asserting by their careful parsing of two different times of testimony and are only able to get there by twisting the intent of the answers provided. In essence they are accusing him of “Lying by Omission”. I think there should be a means of blocking such obviously biased and unfounded motions by Our Legislators. There should be some sort of threshold that needs to be passed rather than simply a partisan attempt to smear a person’s reputation and integrity because the “Legislators” simply don’t “like” the Target ... I think it’s simply another epithet that the DemLeft throws around ... like racist ... like “mean” ... like 1%. The DemLeft does as well in taking over epithets for themselves ... like liberal ... like progressive ... They are very good at “Label Shaming” or, at least trying to shut their “opponents” down. If you’re the target of someone calling you a “Conspiracy Theorist” what can you answer? How is the target of that phrase to respond in any meaningful way? All the target can do is walk away, discontinue to engage. The person who throws that on the table is either deliberately, and with malice, changing the conversation or, they are simply illustrating their totally irrational and unsupported bias while simultaneously “scoring a point” by smearing the target. It should be noticed that this tactic is usually used in settings where it can act as a “dog whistle” to others who are observing the dialog. (“SEE!?!” Accuser steps back, takes a bow to their cheering fans, and walks away, fist pumping ... “I WON!!!” ) It’s simply a ploy used to censor any response that might come ... even before a response might come (even if it probably won’t). Bottom Line; the Target cannot easily, if at all, disprove a non existent status, cannot disprove a negative. I think that regardless of the “crime” ... regardless of its complexity or lack thereof ... that while one is “Serving Out Their Sentence” or “Punishment” their “Right to Vote” should be suspended at ALL Levels (Local, State and Federal). Further, these people should NOT be permitted to work in ANY Capacity for the Government OR Any Political “Entity”. That is, from the moment of being found “Guilty” until the “Sentence” has been Completely Fulfilled. This should include while On Parole and/or Under Probation and perhaps even during the Term of Being Required to Perform Civil or Community Services and perhaps until All Fines and Financial Penaties are Satisfied. The only exceptions I think should be Convictions of Treason, Subversion or Other Crimes Directly Against the “State” where I believe the “Right to Vote” should be Permanently and Irrevocably Stripped Away.

IF you ever get to the point where you’re pretty sure you’ve figured out One Person’s Alternate Reality, rest assured that the NEXT One you meet will not fit that mold. What’s sort of “funny” is that if you find three friends who THINK they’re on the same alternate track as the others are, the likely truth is they’re not even on the same plane ... never mind in the same row.

My first suggestion would be to require a “Title” similar to your “category” requirement for a post. Many of the posts here either simply start by going off on some rambling screed or seem to have no information at all and are just a link to elsewhere. Sometimes it’s not worth looking to see ... especially as you get larger. My second suggestion would be a simple Agree/Disagree icon separate from the Emoticons... My third suggestion would be to take a page from FB and enable people to switch a contributor “off” as in, “See no more posts from ...” if you had a way of tracking these it might give you a good idea of “who” to look at. Censorship is hard. I can see where you feel you need to do it if for no other reason than legal issues. If you institute a “flagging” system, perhaps you could make that a publicly seen number where each user could ONLY place one flag and when that number of flagging users gets to (pick a number ... 20) the original poster is warned at say 5 that they’re being flagged &/or Turned Off ... and the piece is removed at 20 ... perhaps after several incidences of this the user should be banned permanently. I would limit the peoples’ ability to “flag” at Users having a 5 or more score to ensure that a bunch of Johnny Come Latelies don’t begin to change content simply because they think they can.

First of all, most “Senior Executives” are not strictly “Employees” they tend to be “Officers”. Secondly, you are running into that thing that most people tend to complain about ... Percentages. There are very few people in ANY Industry who rise above the pack in terms of Ability, Effectiveness or Output. From where you stand, you don’t see that these Senior Executives are immeasurably more valuable to the company than any 10 or 20 or More people of the “Rank and File”. You also don’t seem to see that dozens or hundreds of the “Rank and File” employees have come and gone as this person worked ... or manouvered ... their way up the ladder to where they are. It is through the efforts of those people usually that ALL the rest of the employees have work to do ... even have a job at all. Companies don’t simply decide to arbitrarily hand out enormous paychecks or massive benefit packages. That’s not to say that there aren’t some who benefit unduly because of something like being a relative but that’s very rare. The Skills, the Connections, the Work Ethic, the Knowledge One has are all important points but tge Ability to Tie them all together into an Effective Package AND KNOW Their Own Value is simply beyond the standard 98% though that number is more reasonably written as the 99.999%. Honestly, Companies get what they PAY for and, if not, they quickly throw the person out BUT that person is usually a well known entity BEFORE they ever get offered the position.
