This crap going on in the market is mostly Computer Driven Analogs ... On Friday the DOW closes at almost 26 but, in essentially afterhours trading, on Monday the Market opens near 24 and they “say” it was a 1900 “plunge” but its not an “honest” drop ... this is not John and Jane Doe frantically selling their stocks. if you look, most of these “plunges” are basically “cliff faces” ... straight down drops (not “human” ) The Middle East / Russia messing with oil prices, that’s bad and I can see the selloff but the Market is still “fine”. Keep in mind that 3 years ago, the DOW was bouncing around at about 21 a correction was due ... though this is extreme ... I maintain that this is still a good time for bargain hunting ... better, in fact, than last week. Still, until things settle, I’d buy in the morning and sell off before the close of day ... unless you were grabbing solid blue chips or Medical / Pharma oriented items or Petroleum based manufacturing. As a person, you cannot compete with the computer programs that are feeding off each other. Who would ever have thought that Computers “Panic”? (I did. Right from the beginning)

A piece of an old poem I wrote ... ...just a speck on a speck in the cosmos ... well ... almost. I’ve long looked out over the ocean or from a spot in a vast wilderness area at night where there is no light pollution into the sky with an unaided eye and realized and accepted my utter insignificance. Oddly enough I always seem to immediately relate myself to ants, to microbes, to things even smaller. If I am insignificant, then what are they? Once, I tried to explain to a bunch of my peers how atomic structure is almost “planetary” and floated the idea that, though we can’t perceive it, how there might be “life” that looks about and considers itself “significant”. (That went over well and became a long standing joke) I was once agnostic leaning atheist but over the years I found that there’s too much “pattern”, too much “structure”, so there has to be “something” there. God? I don’t buy the Judeo-Christian version or even a Pagan version of “God” ... I think that whatever God may exist it is not one concerned with the minutiae... and I am not even important enough to qualify as minutiae... I think that the “End of Days” and the obsession with it is similar to looking at One’s own mortality. What happens WHEN? What happens THEN? What happens NEXT? People, generally, are discomforted by the question and, having no answer, create “scenarios” and call them “answers”. Oddly enough I believe that Religion ... Faith ... must be deliberately drilled into people starting from their youngest days as it creates a “way of life” ... instills “morality”. Do this and God will Love You ... Reward You. Do otherwise and God will Punish You. It might not be the very best answer but ... Karma is gonna get you ... doesn’t have the same immediacy... the same “Uh-Oh factor”.

I have repeatedly noted that people who “hate” Trump are mostly people who were taught that, above all, being “polite” is the most important thing. They love “Winners” as long as they don’t have to see how the winning happens. Like people who will talk about how horribly animals are treated and the miserable lives they live and how there really should be something done about it ... While an hour later they are consuming a well cooked steak but mentally think of it as something they buy wrapped in paper or plastic from the store rather than as the “poor” beast they were talking about before. I won’t go into their hypocrisy when it comes to “deer” & “hunting” vs. venison ... though its funny sometimes to see their reaction when they realize they’ve been really enjoying “venison” ... Well, the Market reaction is honestly quite overblown and, in fact, when it bottoms out, represents a killer buying opportunity. I really think most of this computer driven ... it has the hallmarks ... if you notice, much of the decline happens when most people don’t have access to trade. On monday, the market opened over -850 than its previous close ... when it closed on monday it was about -1050 and they said the market “slid” over -1000 but factually the market only went down about 200 from its open. Today it “opened” about -500 from last night’s close ... I think this after-hours trading should be looked at carefully because it only acts to make everything unsteady and makes for mini panics. Because of this I don’t leave any money in after hours ... I close out / sell off before the final bell. It seems that a lot of people are doing the same thing. Why leave it sit if you can’t protect it or reasonably expect it to remain at least stable?

This event is getting exciting.

Our Government ... picks and chooses Our International Representatives (aka Ambassadors) is ... and has been ... wrong. I think that most of them feel that the best way to do this is to be like the guys at a business convention who have lots of trinkets (money and favors) on their table to give out. Having never been an Ambassador for Our Country, I will stick to the analogy of being a Business Rep. Most people who go to business conventions, functions, events and even meetings seem to take them as being some sort of party to “make friends” ... make “contacts” ... and generally, enjoy themselves ... have a “good time” ... kind of a mini paid vacation ... and so, they get nothing useful done, come away with very little of value for tge time spent. I went to these things for Business. Who are you? Who do you represent? How much power do you have to negotiate deals? What can you do for Me/Us? What do You want in return? I wasn’t after a collection of new “friends and acquaintances” I was after mutual respect and understanding ... and useful business deals ... and I got them. I also got startled looks, looks of discomfort, and a shying away of “party goers” ... even from fellow co-workers. Stanley, Schlage, Yale, Arrow and dozens more companies got skyboxes to sporting events, concerts ... paid for high end dinners, booze and entertainment ... I almost always got saddled by the company with other “deserving employees” ... but my Hosts were always to find out that regardless of the distraction, I was there for “Business” ... and I always got a lot of it done. This is fine though I would wish they made some sort of personal comment to let US know WHY They posted it. What really bothers me is there are those people who are simply posting links one after the other ... 5-6-7 ... 10 in a row and obliterating any sort of “Forum” aspect as their links push everything off the landing page ... even off the “see more” page. Actually, at 6AM EST on Feb21 someone has posted 28 links in a row (a stack) followed by someone posting 14 (a stack) ... ALL on Feb 21 before 6AM EST Right now there’s someone who has posted, I think, 10 or more links to the Wall Street Journal ... in a “Stack” ... This practice is turning IDW into somebody’s personal version of Drudge or Whatfinger but usually using a single source (do we Really need to see 14 plus Wall Street Journal pieces from this morning?) I could easily “name names” but, its easy to see who they are. Well, except that every construction firm I’ve ever dealt with ... and I’ve dealt with hundreds as an Architectural Door & Hardware Consultant (including Architects, Owners, Construction Management & Contractors) simply charge an unvarying percentage above “costs” ... including Trades and Labor ... so if, for instance the add-on is 100% (not unusual in Metro USA) a $20 per hour person is billed at $40 per hour ... if that base goes up 10% to $22 (up $2) then they simply bill at $44 per hour. It might put a strain on the people paying for the Building and there might be a short term shuffling in competition but after a short period ALL the Contractors will be charging the same (higher) amount once again. Its the only way to stay healthily competitive. The people who were paying for the Building to be done were really the only ones “making out” by Contractors using cheaper (except, of course the cheaper laborers)

I’m not trying to say that this is happening with any regularity and I recognize that Watson may be exaggerating somewhat ... he’s certainly sarcastic ... but most of his material contains a core of truth. That’s the problem with dismissing something as being an exaggeration ... there’s the underlying truth that you shouldn’t try to dismiss. “But these protections will extend to any harassment, bullying or discrimination, including homophobic, sexist or racist remarks.” People, when sick, hurt, injured or frustrated simply don’t act their best. Often the medical staff catches the brunt of it and ... that’s wrong ... very wrong. Abuse and aggression are pretty clear cut ... anyone can see them for what they are and should have a means to stop it. “discrimination, including homophobic, sexist or racist remarks.” These are subjective ... a lot more open to interpretation ... which, as Watson says, is like “deplatforming” based on similar concepts. A lot of homosexuals, trans types, feminists, blacks, Islamists are SO “THAT” that they, themselves discriminate against ANYONE who is Not THAT ... and tend to be extremely “sensitive” in taking offense towards any perception of negativity ... ANY Perception. (ie. Say a Jew attending a Muslim or, a Muslim attending a Jew? Or a Trans attending a “Redneck” or vice versa? ... I don’t know what the UK calls a straightlaced white conservative) So, while I tend to trust and side with people in the medical profession (anywhere) what happens when one “decides” patient X is a .......... and refuses to assist ... to treat? What happens to the patient? If the UK actually has injected “subjective judgement” into the Rule Structure governing medicine, I DON’T see where Watson is wrong in his “exaggeration” ... maybe a bit Alarmist but the Left is Nothing but Alarmist and use it to their benefit ... if a bit of Alarm or Exaggeration from the Right is needed to get this topic onto the Pages of Thought ... so be it. Its an exaggeration ... which Does Not Mean “its never going to happen”. Rules are made that are well intended but get exploited by those who wish to misuse them every day.

Well, this was quite interesting given how old it is. Its still germane in today’s “Hollywood” which continues to be so Left its painful. On the other hand, I think we’re beginning to see the Left Think finally run into the same problem that was mentioned about Talk Radio. The Academy Awards, the Oscars and several other “Award Shows” are falling flat ... no ... falling on their faces ... because no one is watching anymore ... no one is “tuning in”. It seems that most of the US Citizenry has gotten tired of all the Leftist “Signaling” ... their “Virtue Signaling” ... people are coming to realize that mostly these are morons who can read a script and emote ... whatever their told to “emote” AND all that “Signaling” is simply more acting. How can you watch Brad Pitt, Matt Damon be a kick ass super action hero and then listen to them whine about how the World simply needs a “Coke and a Smile”? How can you watch “Annie” go from a redhead to a black girl? How can the Little Mermaid become suddenly “brown”? I think even those people who are relatively slow are looking at this and seeing how senseless ... nonsensical ... it is. Somewhere, deep inside of lots of people there is a growing unease ... perhaps a sense of having fallen Through the Looking Glass ... and finding that they have NO Idea where they are.
