I would say that the data on 2019\20 isn’t all in and tabulated so there’s more than likely to be some changes ... adjustment ... but ... The chart seems to bear out what has been being said right along ... the overflow “hospitals” are going mostly unused, all the “extra” equipment is finding little usage. The “safe spacing” and “shelter in place” orders are producing results unlike we’ve ever experienced during Flu Season (note that this chart is specifically “pneumonia deaths” so ... COVID-19 Deaths as well ... unless they’re holding those numbers aside for some reason) It looks, from this chart (though my faith in the CDC is a bit shaken) that we have done a “splendid” job of “saving lives” but ... at WHAT COST?

Funny guy ... Its actually a “thing” and its usually cooked out of the skin. Like I make, save and use chicken fat for cooking. When i make stews or soups or just preslice chicken for freezing, I peel off the skin and save it in the freezer until i’ve enough to make it worth it ... In a pan (by preference a wok) i start to slowly cook all the skin until the water cooks off and then i raise the temperature until the skin begins to deep fry in its own fat (ever heard of pork rinds? Fresh chicken rinds are much better) Pour off the fat into a jar and use it the same as you would butter, vegetable oil, olive oil, bacon fat ... Keep in mind that it has a mild chicken flavor ... but I believe its better than most vegetable oils. I learned this from an older Jewish lady who actually used it as a “substitute” for a “butter spread” on toast.

The Dollar Store or any Cosmetic place will sell spritzers ... spray surfaces, spray on hands and wipe dry Its pretty ferocious and hasn’t hurt my skin yet ... Since I’m using Legal Booze, the Alcohol costs a bit but personally, I think I’m worth it. Besides, I drink stuff that costs a good deal more than that stuff ... If the people in question live near these farms, the likelihood is that they are already working and the local population is rarely large enough to “get the crop in” when the time comes. When I was a kid in Maine, we used to get a week off from school to go “pick potatoes” ... the entire school and we were expected to show up and do the work. Picking potatoes is actually pretty easy compared to most other crops if you have a limber back. A minor point of FACT ... many farms requiring such work provide “housing” ... not particularly pleasant housing but ... housing. The Migratory Workers who normally provide this labor are used to the requirements to make these places basically livable for the time they tend to be there ... its a “lifestyle” most people can’t imagine. As to “wages” ... paying more ... pretty much ALL Crop Work is paid based on “piece work”. You pick XYZ, you get paid X per unit. The faster and more efficiently you work, the more you get paid. (Because you got more units in ... not that you get more per unit) #1. If the farmer raises the payout, they have to raise the prices to “the Market” which has to raise the prices to the “Consumer”. Farmers work on a very slim profit margin. #2. The Average Person CAN NOT simply show up one day and start “Picking”. Each item has a technique and manner that is required to “pick”it. Each has a particular way to do it efficiently, properly and without damage while achieving maximum output. As a kid I “Picked” apples, peaches, berries, potatoes, tobacco and other things. I worked beside Migrant Workers ... Kids ... my own age and I worked faster and faster and harder and harder and I COULD NOT COME CLOSE to their ability ... their efficiency ... and for a local kid, I was considered Very Good. For an 8 year old kid and on through my mid teens I made okay side money and the farmers were happy to have me but they didn’t rely on my output to get the crops in.

Most of the characters were odd ... funny ... to attract the interest of kids as well. Rules should be developed making the Electoral College Electors more independent from State Pressure Tactics. This might not be the “Best” idea or practice but, a rule or law stating that the various States DO NOT have the authority to “require” the Elector to vote in any particular manner ... would stop these NPV knuckleheads BUT ... It could very well result in a highly biased selection process ...

Who stuck this title on this piece? This is a GREAT Piece ... You want to know why your great ideas fail so often? (Creatives) This gives you a solid answer. You want to know why your “idea” people are like trying to herd cats? (Manager) This gives you a solid answer. You want to know why your “marketing” is falling flat? (Sales) This gives you a solid answer. Too often I ... who am partially ALL of the above ... have been hired for ONE of these traits and am continually blocked by someone who IS one of the other two traits. I can “see” where the person or people are coming from ... I can see the rut they are stuck in ... but they are SO entrenched in their thought process that they won’t even look at the other two aspects. From Creatives I get “NO! This is a Great Idea! It CAN’T be changed! You simply DON’T understand!” From Management I get “NO! That idea seems okay BUT I don’t see WHY We need change.” From Sales/Marketing I get “NO! You have to make up your mind! WHAT am I selling? WHAT am I trying to sell? There are also a couple other types but those three are the most important although the Creatives and Marketing sort of overlap.

Well ... there’s some good information here as well as some very dubious information. I would say that if one is considering Vox to be a reliable source for information, you are making a mistake. I saw here some theories being presented as “facts” with an “expert” that acted to “verify” these theories. I’d say maybe some 30% is viable and 70% is made up or outright theoretical. The problem would be in trying to dissect it to point out the truth from the theoretical.

Actually the “media” didn’t pay all that much attention to the Bill. They took a look at it, decided it was about Uber Drivers, yawned and didn’t finish reading it. Now “media types” are all up in arms because the Bill screwed thousands of them as many are “paid contributors” and not employees. I believe the rule is that if they submit 34 items a year, they are to be considered “employees” ... most contribute much more often than that ... or did, but now the publishers are simply dropping them as they are not willing to take on a huge staff of “independent writers”.

More proof the Democrats are hypocrites.

New Mexico is largely a LibLeft (Democrat) state. As such, it is no surprise that they would entertain the idea of a “Red Flag Law”. Nor is it any real surprise that they would attempt to make it as broad as possible. “Red Flag Laws” are the proverbial “Feel Good” Logic frequently employed by the Democrat Left to “get their nose in the tent” ... “Laws like this are meant to stop the really insane people from being able to hurt you. They just make sense. Right?” Like breaking a horse gently, first its just a halter (now, that doesn’t hurt) then its just a blanket (now, that doesn’t hurt) then its an empty saddle, then its this piece of metal shoved between your teeth, then suddenly, when its much too late for you to realize, they’re climbing on your back ... This is simply the first of many restrictions they’re going to enact. Any “Red Flag Law” is already a violation of your 2nd Amendment but this version is not simply a slippery slope, its an ice slick slope ... they’ve made it as broad as possible so that, in the near future, they can “take your guns” simply because you object too strenuously to the idea that someone is trying to take your guns. If you object too strenuously to the next set of “rules”, by default you’re a crack-pot ... you’re crazy ... you deserve to lose the privilege...

Not too many people know much about the fire bombing raids. The first time I read first hand accounts of these, I was in 5th grade in the reference section of a library. For some reason, at that time, I had a particular fascination for all historical war books. Especially the “Civil War” through WWII and Korea. Its typical that the New York Times would print this and try to make the USA look the part of the “bad guy”. “Saotome and others suspect, because Japan did not want to upset its postwar American occupiers by casting the United States as the aggressor. ” Define “Aggressor” ... at this point the US Military was completely familiar with the “Kill/Die to the last man, No Surrender” doctrine of the Japanese. The US Military was completely familiar with the outright brutality of the Japanese in their Nationalistic, Militaristic and Almost Religious Fanaticism (their Emperor is/was GOD until recently) pursuit of All Out Warfare. The US Military was completely aware of the distain and contempt in which the Japanese held Prisoners (of either side) for their Failure to Die. The Japanese in their OWN Doctrine considered ALL of Japan ... EVERY Man, Woman, Child to be AT WAR. It wasn’t just the US Military ... it was the Chinese (THAT History is Horrific), the British, the Australians, the Canadians and EVERY Other People Allied Against the Japanese. Tokyo, Nagasaki and Hiroshima and other places not mentioned were War Material Industrial Manufacturing Hubs. They deserved to be “bombed into the stone age” in order to stop War Material from flowing to the troops. The USA and the UK did EXACTLY the same thing to Germany (and Germany to the UK) for EXACTLY the same reasons. To STOP Material, to DAMAGE Morale. European cities suffered perhaps less than the Japanese from fire bombing but that was due to construction techniques. In cities, Europeans used little wood in construction, favoring brick and stone, and certainly no paper. In Japan, they used little brick and lots of wood and paper ... which, it turned out, burned wonderfully ... uncontrollably, devastatingly. If there are vets who recall these firebombing raids with regret, it is most likely due to having been insulated from the horrors the ground and naval forces were going through because they were in the air, or the dimming of fervor over the passage of time or ... simple, honest, horror at what young men (18-21) were forced to do by necessity. War/Battle is Brutal and Ugly to people who “enjoy” it. You take some young Judeo-Christian kid from Kansas and send him off to kill people by the thousands ... what is “war” to him? How do you live with the things you’ve done? How does he live with himself? How can he explain it to God? ...

Dunkin Donuts came out with this big jug of coffee ... I think was called a “Jug of Joe” ... i forget ... it was about a gallon in a resealable container. I used to buy this and a couple dozen doughnuts for guys on construction crews that I was supplying material to. I would give them the doughnuts and hang onto the coffee. When I knew their attention was concentrated on the coffee, I would trot out my tired, old, joke (all my jokes are tired, old and massacred); “What!? THIS?” As I would heft the container, “You misunderstand, this is MINE!!” (Ha Ha as I handed it over) If they knew I was only half ... maybe barely ... joking. No coffee, no life ...! (and I mean COFFEE not some MakaLottOCrapInnaCup Stuff)
