@Naomi Hum ... its a New Rule Change ... your friend’s 25 years of “experience” haven’t “experienced” this yet. Personally, though its here in the USA ... My mother has been and remains a Registered Nurse since she was 25 ... that’s 59 years. My mother and sister owned and operated a Home Health Care & Visiting Nurse Service with some 175 “Field Personnel” (which means a lot of home bound, mostly elderly, injured or sick clients) ... I was a Senior Advising VP on legal matters and technology (unpaid ... it was my Mom’s business) 4 of my aunts are or were RNs My younger brother is a highly regarded Medical Doctor (Diagnostician) for 30 years (we regularly discuss cases, laws, legal situations to this day) And ... I spent the better part of 4 years living in various hospitals as they tried to reconstruct me after being in a car wreck as a passenger ... I’m going to guess my “experience” outweighs even your nurse friends. I don’t address the “Free” / “Not Free” aspect of your responses ... I addressed the Problems Created by Poorly Thought Out ... or Knee Jerk ... or Feel Good “Rule” Changes. I’ve not only seen dozens in the Medical Industry, but also had to gain a complete understanding of them so as to guide my Mother’s company through the minefields that were created. You can scoff and say its just Watson being a jerk but ... if he’s correct and those “Changes” have indeed been made, You may very well find that the “Laugh” is on You. You think that this is some minor little thing ... of little to no importance ... but I have seen repeatedly “little things” like this turn into Absolutely Real Horror Shows ... Especially and Specifically in the Medical Industry.

Think on it ... someone with incipient Dementia ... they say the most horrific things to their wives, husbands, children, friends ... to their Visiting Health Care people ... do they mean it? Most people ... people who “know” them ... know they don’t “mean it” but what about a Health Care Professional who never met Mr. or Mrs. Jones?

I’ll make it personal to you ... you go in because you’ve got a “womanly” complaint ... something is going on “down there” and you’re concerned. You wait in an exam room to be seen and in comes a “trans” thing who tells you to hike up your dress and drop your knickers and ... you’re looking at ... what? A female transiting to male? A male transiting to female? What do you do? If you hesitate either way you’re Displaying Discrimination ... according to this “Rule” can this person then walk out and check you off as discriminating? What happens with your medical problem after that? Can the entire rest of the facility ignore you because you “Discriminate”?

I continue to have a problem with the “terms” of “Common Law” and “Morality” but will work to see if I can find a way to clarify them to myself though “Morality” has long eluded me. I suppose my main problem with the term “Common Law” is that I have rarely ever seen anywhere that it was applied with any consistency which ... in my view ... makes it rather “Uncommon” though I understand that you, and all those others before you, are speaking more of a nebulous theory than a solid reality.

@Josf-Kelley So ... your basis for “Common Law” is it should involve “Trial by Jury” of one’s “peers” (if, indeed, such a thing can be constructed) That it is based on a “morality” that predates the written language (which is pretty tenuous) That one of the earliest known examples of it is the Saxons’ application of it (though I would wonder what the Britons thought of it being “Common” ) (Though I must admit that I kept thinking of Old Nordic/Germanic examples that were pretty close to “Common Law” during this entire discussion ... but, unfortunately, it seemed that was a Law they were applying to and among themselves and not to the people they were conquering ... so I question how “Common” it was) Trial by Jury does indeed seem the “Fairest” and most reasonable form of arriving at a Judgement though there abound many cases where this was found to be faulty so again, I wonder about it being “Common” It seems that the “Common” aspect of the Law is basically found being applied in a court or hearing and is not exactly something that is easily “followed” in day to day practice except as it relies on one’s “morality” ... i believe I already questioned that ... (who then determines “morality”? Take a Christian, a Buddhist and an Islamist and tell me who’s version of “morality” do we use?) Interestingly, you end by referencing my personal favorite “Law”. Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You ... I believe this “Rule” and try to follow it the best I might ... with a Major Caveat. Howsoever Others Do Unto You Accept That Is How THEY Prefer To Be Done Unto ... That is, if someone strikes you, you are almost REQUIRED to bash their brains in because, apparently, that is THEIR Version of “Morality”.

@Josf-Kelley Well, those were less tedious especially that period note in reference to the Magna Carta (nice bit there). “ entitled to the common law of England, and more especially to the great and inestimable privilege of being tried by their peers of the vicinage according to the course of that law.” “The solution is the law of the land, the common law, the power of law commanded by people who are expressly not members of the government...” Common Law? That does seem to be a recurring theme of yours. Please define this term. Further, or, more importantly, please tell me of any time in the history of Mankind that such a thought process actually held sway ... was the way things were “done” ... was the Actual and Full Description of the “Law” being followed ... being applied. I understand the concept pretty well and the closest I can come to it is some sort of “Soft Anarchy”. I think in a room of 10-100-1000 people you would not get more than perhaps 10% that could agree on what “Common Law” should be ... never mind, is. Nebuchadnezzar, Hammurabi and, of course, the People known as Jews, in their time tried to create “Just Laws” even to inscribing them in detail in stone ... but they were not “Common” The Magna Carta and The Constitution of the United States (and Amendments thereto) do not bestow any “Rights”. In fact, they simply “guarantee” that those in Authority will not violate the Rights as bestowed by Nature ... by God ... but when has “Nature” ever respected a “Common Law”? When have Lions ever lay down with Sheep? The people who wrote the Constitution and Early Amendments were giving us a goal, written as perfectly as possible, to strive for. They weren’t describing the situation at hand any more than the Magna Carta did. These documents are the best attempts of mankind to “Write in Stone” the epitome of Just and Reasonable Life ... Law. The authors knew they had not achieved these levels and were unlikely to do so in their lifetimes. They likely knew this attempt at reaching these levels would carry far in the unseen future. You can find these thoughts and concerns expressed by all of them in hundreds of places in the Federalist Letters. They knew that what they were attempting was impossible in any time they could recognize but tgey did their best to set a “Gold Standard” meanwhile, Life and Reality ... Corruption and Greed and Hubris waited outside their doors ... and remains so today ... yet, from that day to this, there are those who continue to struggle to find the Path to that Gold Standard. Then, there are people like you seem to be who will pick at every seam, every loose thread, making it worse while, like children in the back seat of a car, plaintively ask; “Are we...

@Josf-Kelley Yup ... but you went seriously astray. Looking over several of your ... long, extended responses to various topics ... I find that I am somewhat of a loss between the sections you write and the sections you ... borrow. Regardless, you seem to have focussed largely in your readings and studies on the negative aspects that were used and adopted in the Founding of the Nation. In fact, there are many more instances than the few you tend to revolve around that, in looking back with a jaundiced eye, could be thrown into your arguments. I admit those problems were there in an enormous multitude and many were poorly dealt with (in aftersight) and concede that they echo and cast shadows throughout Our History and Our Government through to present times. I think you fail completely to look at the situation and reality of what was trying to be done in any form of Contextuality. Lacking in Context, much of what was created can be seen as flawed and good argument for looking at those flaws can be made. I am no fan of Hamilton or, in fact, many of the “Founders” individually. I am however a pretty big fan of what they knocked and cobbled together while working under a situation of extreme duress. “We, the People, In Order to Create a More Perfect Union ...” They knew there were many imperfections ... many problems ... that it was, in fact, not “Perfect”. (Personally, I wouldn’t care if the person was a Blue Green, Polysexual, Necrophilliac, Trans Species, Null Gender ... IF they were Excellent at the Job ... yeah, a bit of exaggeration there) As to the Housing Bubble & TARP & ... Well, while the Federal “rescue” of the banking system infuriated me, it wasn’t because of the “rescue” it was because of how We had been put into that position to begin with. Why? What happened? Banks were hit with a “requirement” to make “bad loans” ... there wasn’t a “Legal Stick” being used, there was a “Commerce Stick” being applied. Simply put, Banks need Government Approval to expand. They were told, quite simply, that those “Approvals” would NOT be forthcoming IF THEY REFUSED to make these “Bad Loans”. HOWEVER, as if THAT wasn’t bad enough, those Cretins “made a deal” with Taxpayer Funds ... money they had NO Right to Jeopardise ... to Gamble ... with. They blithely said that THEY Would GUARANTEE Those Loans. They basically put the Federal Government on the hook for when John or Jane Doe realized that they had NO Way to Service ... never mind Pay Back ... the debt. That Uncle Sam would dig up the difference. (His Cousins Fannie and Freddie were up to their ... in this) Uncle Sam was put into a No Win Situation because We Simply Could Not Default. Many Banks looked at the “Guarantee’, at the stick, and shrugged their shoulders and did what anyone in their right mind would do ... they played by the “rules”, they held their noses, and approved loans that they KNEW were worthless and ... then they packaged up all that garbage paper and SOLD it at a discount to an “Insurance Company” (AIG) who “bought” it based on the fact the garbage was “Guaranteed” ... WHO got the biggest single payout when everything went into the toilet? AIG Because, what they had was “Guaranteed”. That really WASN’T the Banks’ fault ... The FAULT belongs to Fannie and Freddie and Barney Frank and Whatshisname Dodd (ie. The Democrats) FYI ... Although its being done much more quietly ... this is STILL Happening TODAY ... Notice that Fanny and Freddie are STILL “Alive and Well” but NOW they are some sort of Government Entity Bank ... How does that happen? Talk to the Democrats who continue to protect it.

@Naomi Obviously that depends on the information being clarified. Recently there has been a bit of a scuffle about Christopher Columbus and what happened ... who did I check with? The in depth descriptions of the Sumerians. What were they thinking when the USA was being “Founded”? The actual writings and letters of those people. How did the Europeans get a foothold on the continent of North America? There are hundreds of first hand accounts and several detailed histories told to Europeans by the Natives. Communism, Socialism? Lenin, Trotsky, Tolstoy, Marx ... many others. When looking at more recent materials ... dozens ... hundreds ... of accounts have to be sifted through and weighed for merit and compared against “known” materials and information. When I was a child (10 - 12 & up) in school I took on teachers regularly for the inaccuracy of tge material they were teaching for the fallacy of what they were passing off as knowledge ... my information source? @Naomi I suppose it depends on what you consider “insightful” and how you weight such “insight”. As to “stats” you are correct in a limited sort of way. You can get a pretty good handle on “stats” (which are almost always “tweaked” for content and results) by spending the time to go over many ... many sources ... This guy is using some sort of amalgamation of “new” history combined with “not so new” history to press his points. The problem is that both versions of history are rewrites ... false and falsely weighted. One of the reasons I spend so much time reading original reports and journals from the time periods involved is due to their clarity ... not that they don’t have their own biases but these can be looked at through the 20/20 lens of more information that comes from the time periods closely related ... People like this guy are simply regurgitating a version of history that is to his liking ... a version of statistics that are to his liking ... I could’ve “researched” his entire article in about a half hour using currently available “infotainment” ... so how do you consider that his “insight” is of any actual value? Through the use of Critical Thinking it took less than 2 minutes to see the lack of research and the pushing of “preferred propaganda” in the guy’s piece. Bay0Wulf replies on Feb 3, 2020:
You’re right in that “coronaviruses” as a family are quite common ... there are several of them. Currently there are versions working their way through the poultry and pig production systems ... largely fatal but only transferable within the species they are found in. “The Coronavirus” is what they are calling this particular version of the coronavirus in humans for reasons I have not figured out. However, the format of this particular version is an extremely rare format among viruses ... one indicating some sort of “gene splicing” (outside manipulation). Is it impossible that the virus mutated into this format? No ... its not impossible but its very implausible. What I would point out is that this has suddenly sprung from a city that has not one but TWO Ultra High Level Biohazard Facilities. One, definitely engaged in “weaponizing” Bio Materials. One, which has been very reluctantly “approved” by the CDC/WHO authorities due to its repeated failures in the Security End of things. I am not fond of coincidences and this situation has more than a few coincidences involved for me to see it as being probably “natural”.

Well written. Especially your description in the first paragraph as you are correct in all major aspects. The fee structure for licensing does indeed pay for Game and Wildlife Protection and Enforcement. The structure of the licensing is done in a manner to hold the “harvest” in check so as to prevent over (or under) hunting or “taking” as well as protecting those who are too young, too small or otherwise unsuitable. A simple example in the northeastern US is the licensing of Bear and Turkey ... Bear permits are given out quite sparingly as Bear are only beginning to return to the area and population is slow to grow (though there are sufficient to become pests as they are rather larger than raccoons in my 80+ year old Mom’s garbage). Turkey permits are available but they are very expensive considering the results of cleaning and cooking (fantastic taste but today’s chickens are a better yield) Permits and Licensing has been done everywhere there are Game Animals sufficient to support hunting or fishing for the past 100-200 years or more.

Well ... when you consider the numbers so far it would appear you’re right but it was “nothing” and its spreading quickly ... deaths aren’t as high yet percentagewise but it remains to be seen how many of the infected ... which is a quickly growing number ... end up dead. The Spanish Flu in 2 years infected some 500 million and killed 50 to 100 million of those ... between 10 and 20% ... it was the first known H1N1 virus. Then there’s this ... - It incubates for 14 days ... often without symptoms ... but is apparently communicable during incubation. - It is easily transferred among human by various means. - There are concerns that it may be mutating along the way. - It comes out of Wuhan China where they’re trying to say it might have come from animals although there are TWO Biohazard Labs in that city that “investigate” or possibly work to “weaponize” Biological Agents. (Was this something that “escaped” due to Internationally Recognized Poor Security Habits?) - Then too is the concept that the UN ... Among others that have been saying for years or decades that there is “too large” a human population by about 40%. Lastly, as anyone familiar with how infectious microbiologicals work might know, this has every possibility of being a prime killer disease. It spreads quickly often without notice, it stays hidden for a long time even while infectious, it spreads easily, it kills the host slowly. Whether this is natural or manmade, it is almost a “perfect” virus from the point of view of a virus.

I try to “correct” that type of behavior by use of similar mannerisms. Bay0Wulf replies on Jan 11, 2020:
Yes ... Well ... “Refugees” and “Refugee Status” is not synonymous with Immigration. They are ... or are supposed to be ... Temporary Guests. Although this is rarely the case ... as an example, Haitian Refugees from the hurricane were still in the USA over 10 years later and fought to be allowed to remain. I don’t expect “Refugees” to integrate into Our Society because they ARE expected to eventually return to wherever they came from. On the other hand, I expect a GUEST to act accordingly and do what they can to avoid Pissing Off the Host OR becoming an undue Burden on them.

@PamelaSteele In a time where there are some 325+ million people in the USA (say 25% use “media” daily ... 75m) and this is only the USA ... not to mention the wider English Speaking audience ... You consider stats of .5 million viewers ... 15k “likes” ... to be good? You’re talking stats that are preceded with a decimal point ... and zeros ... I wonder what Thundberg’s overall stats are? Its not that I don’t think these are GREAT Things ... this video ... Prager ... others ... BUT don’t kid yourself, these are reaching a relatively infinitesimal amount of minds. Their “promotion” and “advertising” (hype) is simply “better” (gets better results)

Bay0Wulf replies on Jan 9, 2020:
@pbuck0145 What are the “favorable odds” that anthropogenic atmospheric CO2 is an “actual item of concern” to begin with? With this question, there is much more to work with than “a coin toss”. Further, what are the “favorable odds” that homo sapiens as a species have any tangible (measurable) impact on the quantity (greater or lesser) or results of said CO2? Again, there is much more to work with than a “coin toss”. In fact, Pascal’s using a coin toss as an argument is a form of circular logic resulting in a null set as an answer. In any “coin toss”, what is the chance of a “head” or a “tail”? 50% Every toss thereafter has a chance of 50% ... nothing more and nothing less. Statistically, over 10, 100, 1000 tosses in the end, you will end up with an even split ... a 50/50 split. Pascal was not a scientist which is why offering his philosophy in this matter is of no consequence.

Bay0Wulf replies on Jan 1, 2020:
All I can say is that what this guy refers to as “China’s Golden Years” must have lasted no more than about 20 years. My relationship with my Chinese Escapee Girlfriend (US Citizen, 1989) lasted about 10 years. Since she had escaped at 16, her memories were clear and my curiosity was endless and talk8ng about it for her was cathartic. Her father was an educator who got swept up by Mao’s “Cultural Revolution” and was killed in the street by a mob in front of his home, in front of her. As a fatherless female child, she essentially became a “non-person” to the point where she was unable to enter school until about 6th grade due to her government sanctioned change of “status”. I’m still in regular touch with her and several of our friends ... they weren’t impressed with that “Golden Age” the guy refers to.

That, if you actually read the statistics ... it’s not all that prevalent either. It remains an aggravation and conundrum to me that the greatest percentage of the killings/murder in the USA is Black on Black (with Hispanic on Hispanic being significant as well) but all the media ever reports on seems to be Whites in any context.
