Everyone knows when you first send young children to school they come home with every bug in the book until they build their immune system stronger. Most parents have noticed this. After the first school year children are far less susceptible to picking up new colds and flues etc. Isolation has in fact really damaged the entire populations' basic immune systems. Further, the lack of a physically active life with plenty of outdoor time further weakens the immune system.
