In the US, most of the "progressive" "Republicans" are those who have become concerned about the political gains of the Democrats, and concerned for their office, have moved Left. True Republicans are about preserving and defending the Constitution. Anyone who departs from that agenda is no longer a Republican, even if they make the claim in some way. Democrats have the always unstated claim of destroying the Constitution. Their stated claim is basically to promise that the government can provide everything for everyone. For example, the US Senate Republicans have a rule requiring censure of Republicans for even the taint of wrongdoing. The Democrats have no such rule. The Left is happy to reinforce the suspicion that all politicians are corrupt. It evens the playing field so those on the fence are oblivious to the party taking the high ground. If you bother to digest the platforms, you will find the Democrats promising things they can’t deliver and avoiding stating what they do: trying to destroy the principles that limit their power. Republicans clearly state that they intend to preserve and defend the Constitution. Most voters are oblivious to those facts and blindly, irresponsibly repeat media talking points. That benefits the Left and cripples the Right.

If you search, it is easy to find authoritative articles that are persuasive that more CO2 is better for farming, forests and provides for a more comfortable environment in general. Among many other things, they cite the paleontological record that shows farming tools and sunsheds in Greenland for example. And the record clearly shows that high CO2 levels have repeatedly fallen in the past, so it is not the runaway train the "Chicken-Littles" claim.

And there are none on the horizon, or even a credible inkling in anyone's imagination. There are many known fatalities associated with handling and re-packaging nuclear waste, and I suppose some unknown, given the secrecy of some political regimes. In the former Soviet Union, there is a lake that will remain unapproachable for a hundred thousand years due to nuclear waste that could not be contained. Look it up. There are similar problems with fusion. The Chinese claim to have controlled a fusion reaction has fallen under some question. And the experts I know are doubtful that the reaction will be controllable in any of our lifetimes.

There probably isn't enough money in the defense budget to do it in any kind of timely manner (30 minutes is what missiles take to get here now,) without a huge loss of life. You might want to run some numbers before declaring how stupid it is that government isn't trying to save everyone. The answer is in returning to Constitutional principles. Political correctness dictating that we have equal respect for those who would trash the Constitution is the root of this stuff.
