@Tati. My apologies for taking your words to mean you had not read the Bible or the Koran. I am mistaken, however not very much. You put words into my mouth and are incorrect when you state that I have "hatred" for Muslims. If you knew me and knew my writing, you could not say such a thing. And you did not read my post very well, so I will forgive your interpretation of both the Old Testament and the Intent of the Koran. You speak like a militant Muslim, trying to sound reasonable, so I have no doubt you are employing Taqiyya in that effort. Readers, please take notice.

@Tati, From your reply, I can discern that you have not read either the Koran nor the Bible. Hadith 9-5, among many other places in the Koran, calls for the displacement or death of infidels. A bit like the Christian "Old Testament," that tells us who WE are, and is filled with violence. The New Testament is our CURRENT call, the "New Covenant," that tells us who God is, and ONLY calls for us to love one another. Hadith 9-5 is among Mohammed's last words, and is the CURRENT active call to Muslims. And Taqiyya is their call to lie to promote of Islam. Islam has killed more human beings in history than any other force, disease, philosophy, dictator or country. Sharia Law is itself a declaration of war on our Constitution, so ALL faithful Muslims must be deported. Not only “jihadi” Muslims are dangerous!

@FOTD13, Sorry to butt in, but McCain was responsible for sailors dying on the Forrestal because of a prank that destroyed a bunch of aircraft and put the Forrestal out of commission for months. His Admiral father hushed it up. In captivity, McCain was trusted by fellow American soldier prisoners to get their messages out, and he turned those messages over to the Viet Cong for privileges. Most of them did not survive the retribution for trying to get messages out. He was a cowardly, despicable traitor. Ask those who knew him in the service. Look it up. Its easy to verify. And McCain repeatedly set up Republicans in the Senate by agreeing to support bills, then broke his promises, eventually proving that he was a two-faced Democrat posing as a Republican, and probably paid off for it. Nice hero. Next, there is no viral threat. Only a terrified little girl would believe there is. There is no threat beyond what we endure any given year from the flu and other pathogens. This was a gross overreaction by the public to the media fear-mongering, driven more harshly than usual by the fact that they are so distrusted by the public that they are about to go under. We still can't trust them. Of the dozens of flu viruses that express in any given year, there is usually only a vaccine for one, because it is so expensive to develop. They are not all covered. So we could develop a vaccine for this microbe only to have it evolve as they typically do, into something less virulent or more virulent than COVID-19, but that the vaccine would no longer touch. This is an invisible "threat" which the numbers prove is less dangerous to healthy people than driving your car. So those like the media benefit from taking advantage of its invisibility and asserting that it is dangerous, social distancing and masks are necessary, and that shutting down the economy is appropriate. Someday it will be clear how wrong that was.

That tells you that Chinese officials could not have decided amongst themselves that there was a serious threat until sometime between the arrest and the death of Dr Li, around the time Taiwan warned of the virus in late December. The World Health Organization was still claiming there was no human to human transmission at the end of January. It could be that China directed that stand as long as possible, given the Secretary's rapport with Chairman Xi. I read one report saying that in the first week of February, the Chinese "admitted" that the virus "might" be transmissable human to human.

@FOTD13, Dr Fauci has access to the same papers we all have. He knows the R-nought value of 5.7 in 2.5 days, which tells me, and should tell him, that the entire globe was exposed to the virus long before the West was even aware of its existence in China. And that means social distancing was an attempt to prevent exposure that had already happened. Furthermore, 99% of those the virus kills are smokers and people of any age with serious pre-existing conditions. Its possible that the remaining 1% also have pre-existing conditions that are undiagnosed. So with a case base that could be 2000 times greater than reported right now, that makes the virus 2000 times less dangerous - far less than the common flu. SARS-COV2, which causes COVID-19, is less dangerous to those of us who are normal than driving. Dr Fauci should know this. Some doctors think no disease should be acceptable. And as medical doctors, they may be ignorant of the consequences of political decisions. Does COVID-19 kill people? Yes. The same people who doctors like Dr Fauci should expect to be taken out by the flu and pneumonia, etc, because of other infirmities, every year. 2,046,549 people died last year of all causes except suicide. 65,000 are now listed as dying of COVID-19, almost all of whom could have been listed as dying of their pre-existing conditions. Dr Fauci knows this. Still trust him now?

But here is something to ponder: “You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.   What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.  The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.   When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend is the end of any nation.  You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.” - Dr. Adrian Rogers. And I would add, why not require that EVERY citizen pass the citizenship exam before qualifying to vote? Cheers.

@JacksonNought, At last we agree - at least in principle. Religious symbology and text has no business in government. Even though the Constitution is silent on the matter, Thomas Jefferson warned that there must be a "wall of separation between church and state", as written in Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802, as a matter inextricably entwined with First Amendment rights. I was not aware of the laws in various states about discrimination against religion (in which I include atheism.) However those laws are probably Constitutional, as Constitutional power resides in the States, not the Federal Government, and the Constitution is otherwise silent about religion. However, although I may philosophically agree with you about separation of church and state, as a practical matter of preserving States Rights, I will have to side with the States right to restrict what should probably be free.

@JacksonNought, anyone using the Bible to promote hatred (which I would have to ask, as I would not dare to assign that kind of judgement of someone without their permission) would be to endanger their eternal soul. Many claim to be Christians, but to fail to make the effort be restrain their impulse to judge others, places them squarely at odds with the Great Commission, and places their eternal soul in jeopardy. And to be frank, I have read many cases of discrimination against Christians in public office - including one recent in the news who was fired for placing a Bible verse on her Facebook page, but I have NEVER read of any discrimination against an atheist. Furthermore, even though we are all called to do our best, the Bible acknowledges the inevitability that we will ALL fail, so it does not call for our condemnation of any of the relationships you mention, only that we all seek to be better in every way possible OURSELVES, and leave others to choose to work on themselves, or not. That is FREE WILL, guaranteed by God for us to choose or not choose to be better OR to be faithful. So the truly faithful to Scripture will also unconditionally honor your choice to not accept God. This is what Scripture says, and it is not what people say it says, if not that, "Christians" or not.

For me personally, not politically, the New Testament, which is the current call to Christians in the Bible, gives the Great Commission, which simply says we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, and this law exceeds all others. Finally, the latency of the disease is among the highest known, almost certainly surpassing 30 days, which means asymptomatic silent carriers (you and I) can transmit the disease for a very long time after being infected. Those who I know who have awakened from the socialist dream have only done so by recognizing their current path as equivalent to paths chosen by others in history. Using dialectic arguments only allows them the Marxist wedge to be applied to your simple statement of the morality of property ownership, with which they simply disagree without qualification - Which is Marx's only piece of wisdom: No argument was necessary to be persuasive; only Marxist assertion, and logic could be discarded entirely. @MrShittles. The mortality rates you are quoting depend on assumptions of only the recorded cases of COVID-19. Several reports now predict that the actual number of infections may be between 50 and 85 times higher - meaning that the mortality rate is 50 - 85 times lower than the .5% you quoted, which reduces it to less than the common flu. Even the 7% mortality rate based on reported cases in Italy (not actual infections) becomes about the same as the common flu. Also I guess you missed the part about the latest R-nought value being 5.7. Basically that means unless someone had absolutely no contact with anyone, EVERYONE ON THE PLANET was infected in 5 weeks. For one thing, that means that failing to social distance is not "foolhardy." It is ineffective because everyone is already infected. You did get that right? And that drops the mortality rate to about 300 times less than the common flu. You can see by the reference I provided that the new virus kills almost no one except the very sick and dying (and a percent or so of people of any age with undiagnosed preconditions.) The countries with the greatest number of old people have the highest number of fatalities. You should pay attention to when some of those numbers are updated on the reference I provided. Some are updated often. Some not since originally published, such as hospitalization rates. This will take a while to be reflected in the data pages, and the media, and others like them benefiting from the chaos, who will naturally continue to claim a hazard exists when it doesn't. Are you one of those?

Crickets. In 1981, Republicans in Congress and the public were asleep when Democrats passed the LRRA, "regulating" insurance companies. 276 insurance companies went out of business, competition disappeared, and insurance rates quadrupled. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Chuck Schumer voted for it. I remember. Do you? Not a peep. By then almost no one remains aware that the Federal bureaucracy is running their lives, as if it has always been that way. So when Democrats pass the explicitly unconstitutional Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), almost no one realizes that it is literally the death knell of the United States Constitution, and those of who warn so, are vilified as "right wing extremists," - especially by the media, which the New York Times proudly proclaims are 87% Democrat. So do I like the chances for the Second Amendment? No. Unless the public wakes up now, the Republic is finished.

@jakuboj, we disagree. Dr Li Wenliang posted that the first case was 17 November, and he was arrested 6 weeks later. He recanted his discovery under threat of prison, and that leaked out on social media. He died of exposure to the virus 5 weeks after that. For one thing, if this was a tactical release, Dr Li would never have had a chance to release anything to social media in an authoritarian regime like China. And he would have disappeared immediately. Not to mention that US intelligence has noticed chatter that seems to point to Chinese industrial espionage aimed at learning if we have invented a vaccine. If this was a weapon, they would have had the vaccine first before inflicting it on their own population, and would not be spending millions on resources to discover what we have. None of that sounds like any kind of reasonable tactical plan for controlled dispersement of a biological weapon. And SunTsu would say that releasing a weapon that might destroy your own nation before it harms anyone else would guarantee defeat. The CCP is well-known to follow the concepts of Sun Tsu. The well-known R-nought value of the virus causing CoVID-19 is 5.7 in 2.5 days. If you do the math, it means the entire country of China was exposed to the virus before Dr Li was even arrested. The media of the West did the most harm, and except for approving of Communism, they were not under the control of China, and most were kicked out of China. Bad idea if you are using them and want to direct them. Finally, as a biological weapon, it is a very poor one. It is highly infectious, but is so toothless as a pathogen that it only takes out the sick and dying. If that was a plan, it was executed by the Keystone Cops.

We already have term limits. They're called elections. Term limits haven't made California less corrupt. They haven't made Colorado less corrupt. They've made appointed bureaucracies and political machines more powerful.
TimTuolomne replies on May 2, 2020:
That is the fault of voters allowing the Constitution to be crippled by Wickard v Filburn, the LRRA, Obamacare..... When that stuff is repealed, bureaucratic rule will cease, Constitutional protection will resume, and term limits will mean something. Time for a Convention of States to get this done.

@SpikeTalon, This gets bad enough, and if we don't get wasted first by these lunatics, that might be a reasonable reaction by the surviving freedom-loving majority.

TimTuolomne replies on May 2, 2020:
My brother is a geneticist, and all his colleagues agree that the gene sequence for SARS CoV2, which causes COVID-19, shows none of the markers necessary for gene splicing, and shows a clear forensic path through bats some time ago, and pangolin just before jumping to humans. These are the experts and know what they are talking about. I don't believe what some uninformed opinion maker says who has no idea how to sequence genes.
Brit Hume: Collateral damage from lockdowns 'is extraordinary' - WND
TimTuolomne comments on May 1, 2020:
Not that complicated. The R-nought value for SARS COV2 is well-known now. Its 5.7 over 2.5 days. If you can do the math, you know that over 10 billion people would be infected in 5 weeks. So not only did the Chinese have zero chance of containing it by the time they realized it was a problem, the...
TimTuolomne replies on May 1, 2020:
@NonAgrssvMight, 17 November to be exact, according to Dr Li Wenliang. No, that kind of R-nought is far too fast for anything but lockdown within 2 days of discovery. Dr Li was arrested 6 weeks later. That is the very first time officials could have responded. By that time, not only was the virus all the way across China, the 60,000 who fled Wuhan into the World, had spread it to the entire World. Just because you THINK is should be possible to contain it, doesn't make it so. The math proves it.

TimTuolomne replies on May 1, 2020:
Simple. Turn off your location reporting. Turn off your phone when you are not using it. Configure your computer to delete all cookies and history when you turn it off, and turn it off when not using it. If someone really wants to find you and they know how, they will anyway, but at least those measures prevents them from having a trail to follow. And for heaven's sake, if you think someone is trying to track you, be immediately proactive and turn it back on them. If they are tracking you, there's a pretty good chance they are in violation too!

If you do the math for COVID-19, its R-nought is 5.7 over 2.5 days. That computes to the entire planet infected in 5 weeks. China was not aware in time, so its entire population was infected, the West was not even aware of the virus for 9 weeks after the first recognized case on 17 November, and...

I think that the problem the conservatives face when making their case for greater freedom is that so few have any idea what freedom is in a culture where so few have it.
TimTuolomne replies on Apr 30, 2020:
Right. Freedom only comes from the Constitution, and Conservatives are the only defenders of the Constitution, although some have still not read it, nor the philosophies on which it is founded. No Democrat has probably ever read it, let alone grasp it, so they believe that government can make things more fair than the Constitution, even though the only alternative they can come up with is socialism, so they have to ignore its history, and that takes Olympic class denial.

Any notion of control beyond emergencies is unconstructive, and illusory anyway.
