Now that they have been told for the hundredth time that there is no justice in US (i.e., see KR getting off with shooting 3 black guys for peacefully demonstrating about the murder of Jacob Blake by white police) then anything is OK.

It would not have fired. The DA's office wanted a gun violation to stick so they could charge her so they modified it so that it could fire. This is what they presented as evidence.
