From the creator of your quote (the satire website bustatroll.org): "ABOUT US BustaTroll.org is a subsidiary of the “America’s Last Line of Defense” network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery, or as Snopes called it before they lost their war on satire: Junk News About Satire Before you complain and decide satire is synonymous with “comedy”: sat·ire ˈsaˌtÄ«(ə)r noun: The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, OR ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. Everything on this website is fiction. It is not a lie and it is not fake news because it is not real. **If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined.** Any similarities between this site’s pure fantasy and actual people, places, and events are purely coincidental and all images should be considered altered and satirical. See above if you’re still having an issue with that satire thing. **About Taters “Taters” are the conservative fans of America’s Last Line of Defense. They are fragile, frightened, mostly older caucasian Americans. They believe nearly anything. While we go out of our way to educate them that not everything they agree with is true, they are still old, typically ignorant, and again — very afraid of everything.** Our mission is to do our best to show them the light, through shame if necessary, and to have a good time doing it, because…old and afraid or not, these people are responsible for the patriarchy we’re railing so hard against. They don’t understand logic and they couldn’t care less about reason. Facts are irrelevant. BUT…they do understand shame. About the Tater Lottery It has been widely reported that America’s Last Line of Defense is an evil machine of fake news for profit, run by unconscionable monsters. Typically those reports come from Ivory Tower douchebags with hyperbolic headlines to sell on websites covered in ads…for profit. The reality is, we do this for free 98 percent of the time. Every so often, something catches on and goes viral, and whoever wrote it wins what we call “The Tater Lottery.” All of our writers have real lives and jobs. Nobody is making a living from fooling the masses. We rarely go beyond the organic reach of our page, which was built and marketed to the Tater demographic. *UPDATE – August 2019* In the interest of transparency, and because I love to point out why Newsguard is stupid, I feel I must include the current state of affairs: Having made every change requested by the fact-checkers and being sure we’re in full compliance with Facebook’s terms of service, the taters have returned, in force, just like I said they would. They are more clueless, ...

Also these people are pretty old. And some (Clinton) are more wealthy than others (Sanders) whose wealth is comparable to most professional retirees his age. Clinton has clearly gained more from grifting the political, business, and philanthropic system than the relative outsider Bernie, who calls to reform that system. And socialists would remind us not to misplace our criticism on the professional class when the real cause of inequality lies with capital (i.e. the billionaires). We should aspire to raise more working people to the quality of living enjoyed by professionals. They are workers too and we we all deserve such compensation. And barring a revolution or racism no longer being a point of disagreement between the left and right, we probably need them in any populist electoral coalition.

Let's see... Nationalism: prefers ascendancy of a specific group that shares ancestors, history, culture, religion, or language in a given territory and marginalization of everyone else (as opposed to cosmopolitanism). Socialism: prefers collective, egalitarian economic and political power (as opposed to the atomized, hierarchical economic and political power of capitalism). Authoritarianism: prefers centralized, dictatorial economic and political power (as opposed to the decentralized, democratic power of libertarianism). I'd say Authoritarianism is problem #1 with the Nazis and Nationalism is problem #2 (not because nationalism isn't evil but because it doesn't hurt anyone if nationalists don't have power). Socialism was not the driving force there. Reactionaries have historically made similar arguments against liberal democracy.

From immigration attorney Scott Hicks: "Ok. On the new change on citizenship for children born to military or government personnel stationed abroad. Here is the best I can do for now. 1. It does apply to all. 2. It imposed an extra hurdle and expense in on people. 3. Under these rules, the parent must file for a Certificate of Citizenship before the child turns 18. 4. If they do not, the child would have to do so on their own. But that process involves more risk of denial after age 18. 5. Also, if that child does not have actual physical residence at some point and he/she were to marry a non USC or someone Ike themselves, their child would not be a USC. 6. It gets rather murky what Immigration’s position is on a child whose parents have not filed the N600. I would argue under the statute still a Citizen, but may not have proof of it."

It looked like a really dumb movie attempting to exploit the political environment. It's from the same producers as The Purge. I'd probably examine that series of movies for more context.
Quillette has been hoaxed in the dumbest way imaginable.

I think there's an "honor killing" aspect to a lot of these shootings. There are accounts that the Pulse shooter was gay, used gay hookup apps, and had attended Pulse, suggesting perhaps that he could not reconcile that identity with his religion and family expectations, and therefore lashed out at the people who he thought dishonored him by engaging his sexual advances. Likewise with those who target women, Muslims, or Mexicans. The shooters often believe that their targets have dishonored them by stealing their birthright (of economic or sexual success) or failing to uphold traditional values. And then there are the ones who lash out at institutions that represent liberal decadence like schools, movie theaters, and government agencies. But I do agree that a breakdown of community is a contributor.

"while those on the Right blamed liberal immigration policies" Well that's a disturbing thought--basically blaming immigrants for their own mass murder. I knew the right was sadistic, but not that sadistic.

WilyRickWiles comments on Aug 9, 2019:
I know you see the President as a totem for a class of people (in your mind, the "non-left"), but in reality he's just one person. Meanwhile, he and the right are scapegoating, dehumanizing, and characterizing as invaders an actual class of people.

LOL. Love how the right rationalizes withholding public information about the very wealthy. Meanwhile, they're totally fine with dehumanizing and scapegoating entire classes of people.

WilyRickWiles comments on Aug 5, 2019:
We need more community. But we need not (and should not IMO) reimpose traditionalism on everyone. Moreover, we should check our aggrievement when young people experiment with new forms of community. Finally, we should consider how our current version of capitalism destroyed old forms of community and discourages new ones. At the end of the day, it is normal for institutions to fade away and be replaced when they cannot adapt to changing social norms. The replacing is the hard part.
How do we explain this?

Left wing violence
WilyRickWiles comments on Aug 5, 2019:
While he may have espoused left-wing ideas, his actions seem to have been motivated by something common to most mass shooters, particularly those on the right. That is, he seems to have sought to avenge perceived dishonor from certain segments of society, namely women and perhaps the political establishment.

WilyRickWiles comments on Aug 3, 2019:
There are a few people you mentioned who were called progressives, but the inclusion of the rest seems to be due to their mention in the cultural Marxism conspiracy theory. Regardless, as a leftist I do criticize the blind spots of people who called themselves progressives in the past (and today too). Moreover, a focus on the idiosyncracies of early progressives is misplaced, because the roots of their politics are much older and less controversial.
