Removing overburden to extract these ores means digging and moving between 200,000 and 1,500,000 pounds of earth, a rough average of 500,000 pounds per battery. Moreover, the energy equivalent of 100 barrels of oil is used in the processes to fabricate a single battery that can store the equivalent of one barrel of oil A peer-reviewed life-cycle study comparing conventional and electric vehicles served to assess a wide range of environmental impacts. “To begin with, about half the lifetime carbon dioxide emissions from an electric car comes from the energy used to produce the car, especially in the mining and processing of the raw materials needed for the battery. @TimTuolomne if i take a piece of 16Ga. alum and strike a piece of 3/8 steel it will cut the 16 ga. alum in half if the alum was traveling at 3 times the speed of sound it still would cut in half, at what speed woiuld it have to travel to cut the steel....maybe the speed of light your the engineer....i am just the real world guy. these planes were slowed way down they weren't traveling any where near sound!

@TimTuolomne working with metals for 40 years as in farm welding and mechanical contracting how heavy a metal is the wing of an air plane compared to a 3/8" 10"x 24" steel I beam....have you see the FBI video opf the 747 plane crash landing and wooded power poles cut the wings off...one pole breaks one pole doesn't alum is a very soft metal and steel is very hard both can be manufactured to higher stensile strength. but high stensile alum still does not trump steel until the steel is thinner and less stensile. if the holes in the towers where the width of the plane these wings should fallen to the ground IMO but did not...
