Five major political ideologies: Anarchism, Communism, Conservatism, Environmentalism, Fascism, Feminism and identity politics. Of course there are many more ideologies. Even more than recently declared genders. (Please be assured that I don't care what gender a person is, we are all just people no matter how we dress or what configuration our anatomy has. We need to give the human respect due to all. I just am not able to nor have the time to keep it all straight.)

The thing that all ideologies have in common is the narrative of their individual beliefs. Every narrative describes Disneyland. Just follow these ways and everything will come into line and the world will be right. And each ideology is full of fudges, assumptions, impossible events and downright lies.

It is my contention that the moment we become ideological we are off on the yellow brick road. No individual or group is smart enough to carve out a planed path of any ideology that will work, for the same reason that we cannot predict the weather more than a handful of days ahead. That being said we can still do effective things like start to reverse the unprecedented distribution of wealth going on now. I am not saying everybody has an equal amount of wealth, that can never happen even if we tried. I mean a distribution of wealth so that one person can manage to raise a family at a moderate level. There will always be and should be rich people, but they should feel a sense of responsibility to their country to contribute a reasonable portion of their wealth that supports the services of government, the infrastructure they make use of and have respect for those who help them achieve their goals.

  1. Most people did not inherit their wealth, there for, the money they have is a reward for their hard work. If you expect them to have a sense of responsibility for earning their money thats not going to happen.

  2. I partially agree, EVERYONE should contribute to pay for services that benefit all. I like a flat tax that everyone, regardless of income, must contribute to. It should be around 10% and government must operate within that amount. This will have an added benefit that it will make the government promote individual wealth to increase its own operating capital

(3) If someone helps you achieve anything you should be grateful. Respect is earned so if one wants to be respected one should act respectable.

What I would call a self-made-man is placing that man on an island with plenty of natural resources but will never have contact with anyone. Place him there and come back in 40 years to see what he has built. That is a self-made-man. Any one else needs the services and accomplishments of the rest of the world.

@Pand0ro I agree that would be a self made man but that is an extreme standard to meet. I think anyone can prosper in any situation if they are motivated. Its the mindset that makes the difference. If a person is expecting to be given everything they will have a rotten life. The motivated person will feel worthwhile as they better themselves and benefit the people counting on them. I have known too may people who grip and bemoan their situation. They for lack of a better words are jealous and think Im lucky or that I was given everything. They should focus on bettering themselves and their situation for their family.

For every successful entrepreneur there are 10 competent, motivated people who work hard and have only moderate success. I don't think many people consider how much circumstance is involved. Being in the right place at the right time is not something that can be planed upon. They might start a business, manage it well and grow it and then are hit by something like an economic downturn, a pandemic, an employee that embezzles from them, a customer who sues them, a well financed competitor that forces them out of business, a false rumor and many other disasters. If one of those situations had not taken place, they might have been highly successful. I do not begrudge a persons success when they earn it. It would be good if they recognized that there were chance factors that helped lead to their success, and the understanding and a little humility that recognizes others who have worked just as hard as them without the luck. People should feel thankful for what they have, lower wage workers included, and have some respect for those not as fortunate.
