Interesting video, thanks. I don't think your question too ironic though. The elitist doesn't wish the masses to live to the age of Methuselah. Only the few can live like the gods. It's only ironic if considered through the lens of a concern for humanity as a whole, for which they have no concern. The aim is a subservient class to unquestioningly perform those menial tasks necessary to their existence. A sub-species that will not eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge which is what Gattaca was all about in my view

Ever since I was a child and likely way before, certain groups try to scare us with over population. Meanwhile many nations are now concerned that they do not have enough people to support their society when the baby boomers retire. Regarding your point, it is ironic.
