Power-outages for hours on end daily in South Africa.

It's effecting the whole economy. Effecting businesses very badly.

The power is off more than its on...it affects ability to draw cash, use petrol etc.

The introduction of social chaos seems a global phenomenon these days. Soros?

Just a note on the use of "affect" and "effect". Effect is "the result" brought about by an influence. Affect is to have an influence upon, it is not the result.

It's "affecting" the whole economy. "Affecting" businesses very badly.

You will usually be right in usage if you use effect as a noun and affect as a verb although both words have usages as both a noun and a verb. It is rarer to use effect as a verb and affect as a noun than vice versa.

Sorry about that. I don't mean to minimize the context of your statement with an english lesson. I certainly see how chaotic the situation can be. Hope the power gets stably restored there soon.

"Atlas Shrugged" in real life. I didn't like the way Zimbabwe ended it though. Maybe if the government took over the means of production ...

Geez, that really is a crisis. It does sound like sabotage.
