I see myself as a logical, reasoned and fact-based thinker. I do have some strongly held views that definitely are red flags and I do have trouble articulating myself especially in the light of outright lying and misrepresentation. I do use swear words on occasion to express emotion and provide emphasis. I was accused of "delivering the truth too bluntly" in a performance review. How about some scheme wherein my homepage would contain a queue of "held" posts or comments that I could attempt to rewrite into something less objectionable? I would then have to action it, or its revision for at least a +1 level person to review - or I could simply cancel it. Allow annotations for those reviews because I may prefer to argue where the line is rather than the post itself. Hide the identity of the complainant & adjudicators from me until the issue is resolved (to prevent retaliation from gumming up the process). Not that I would stoop to retaliation, I'd abandon the site before going that low. Some timer mechanism should exist that would gradually "freeze" groups or users until "held" queues are cleared. Maybe start with awarding points for timely queue clearing. Satire, Sarcasm, and Humour - In the vein of Justice Stewart, I can't explain when something "crosses the line" but I know it when I see it.

I agree with one nit-pick. Exaggeration is not lying - the underlying premise is true just not to the extent the speaker has taken it. I think picking on Trump is a bit like lighting a candle in a burning cathedral. Trumps "lies" are "fishing stories" - yes I caught a fish and no it was not as large as I said. Who cares? Some of the lies from others are blatant misrepresentations or even complete fabrication. Consider Lieu's misrepresentation of Candace Owens or Nadler's shrug to her. I think elected officials who "lie" are guilty of treason. and should be shot. Boy, wouldn't that change things?

I watched both video's... and I started to write a comment that started with "Bullshit..." Because of my IDW level I was offered a opportunity to approve or disapprove the 2nd video. I almost did disapprove it. Then I realized that I had just watched a masterful presentation. The best example of indoctrination I had ever witnessed. Some smart people put this together. Some very smart and dangerous people. It's overreaching message is dissent is evil. The videos equate the feelings you get or the thinking you have to do when your hear something that conflicts with your current world view with harm. That the very fact the new information does not support your opinion is what makes it wrong. And here's a list of the people that do this to you. And we need to stop listening to ideas that make us question things. It as if someone says: Here's an interest thought. If that thought doesn't align with your current thinking then it is causing harm to you therefore you shouldn't listen it. If you do listen to it, you are a racist, misogynist, or white supremacist or at least starting down the road to these things The primary video uses scientific sounding words and phrases to weave a demonic intent into the sharing of information/ideas/opinions that must be avoided if you are to avoid the pain it causes. The second proffers a list of people that are doing this evil, even if they don't realize it. So I didn't disapprove the comment. I learned that the game is being taken to the next level, which is new information(at least for me) and therefore the video has value. The premise herein is easily rebutted but its obfuscation is not so easy to clear away. The rebuttal: TRUTH. Truth is usually unpleasant but finding it is the mission. Reject ideas - not the creation of them. All progress comes from new ideas. "They" have the education system locked down. Our young people are being taught WHAT to think, not HOW to think. If we can just keep them from learning new ideas with all the other dependencies we've established, they will remain compliant. God this was hard to articulate. I hope my message get through.

My experience (A Canadian who worked for a French company with NA HQ in SC) Americans are more vocal about their position with strangers for most things. Canadians tend to keep theirs closer to their chest. I was actually told as a child that you don't ever bring up politics/religion/money unless you know the other persons situation and even then only rarely. Hockey was about the only safe topic (haha)

For your particular nuance, the frequency of displays of a given behaviour is an even better predictor for the future. Something done 10 times yesterday compared to done once thirty years ago is a major distinction. Also the opportunities someone has to display a given behaviour, compared to the number of times that behaviour was displayed, is a major determinant for the future. Is tiger woods a philanderer or does he just have more opportunities given his wealth and fame? Do you think he's slept with everyone woman that he could? How about #respectme? and for the record all violence is vile and should be squashed. I'd argue the abuse of #metoo has done much harm to women in business. Over my career I've managed 100's of people as a line manager for everything from tech workers to heavy machine mechanics. Other than a team of 4 women (data entry techs) every group I managed had more men than women and I'm willing to make this generalization - women are less accepted by their female counterparts than they are their male counterparts. I did have one guy that refused to work with a woman and I let him go. EVERY other interpersonal issue I had to deal with was woman on woman. I had to break up physical altercations between men several times but after disciplining the participants for fighting (in one case termination) the issues went away. The women stuff involved issues that I could not discipline for and dragged on for months. She took my xyz without asking! She isn't doing enough or not fast enough or not the way I would do it BS. I did have one lady quit because the "clique" was so mean to her. Not violence but just "mean girl" crap. I mentored several women over the years which sometimes included one on one sessions that were lets just say "high in emotional" content. Newer (Younger?) managers refuse to mentor women and even when they do, a one on one sessions would be highly unlikely. I know organizations that require at least two people present for performance reviews. Lots of high potential employees are losing out.

I vote to return "Civics" courses to every middle school and high school. I think you should require a Civics exam before becoming a citizen - for both immigrants and people that where born here.
