A could use a second opinion on this.
Here's the situation. For months even before Covid my mother and I had planned to take a trip to North Carolina so I could see my dad who I only see once a year. We live in Michigan. We're planning on July 30th. My dad's wife is a hypochondriac and told him she wasn't sure I should come.
I've only been out in public 4 times since the stay at home order. Every time I've worn a mask. I did go to a 4th of July cookout and my best friend's for a bonfire before that. All that's just to say I basically haven't been anywhere during the past four months or so.
My dad said he'd try to talk to his wife but I probably wouldn't be able to stay the night. Maybe hang out for a few hours a day. My mother already paid for a hotel that we would have to stay on August 3rd. The way I see it there are four options.
Wait and see if my stepmom will say yes and go to see him if only for a few hours a day. Go and just do our own thing and don't worry about my dad. Or hope things are better during Christmas and wait till then to go. Or even take vacation somewhere else and stay in the prepaid hotel on the way back? I genuinely don't know what to do.
If you are not important enough to them to risk a brief visit I would just go on vacation have fun and let them think about it.
If you were my child there would be no reason NOT to see You !!! I'm sure there are ways to meet safely for all concerned.
If you really want to see your father I would contact a Physician and ask about safety and conditions to practice during your visit.
Maybe wait until Christmas, so things with the Corona-scare and hysteria will have settled down. It is apparent that your step-mother is overly cautious right now. So, why make things stressful for everyone concerned?
