Shared posts... aren't very shared.
I really like the idea of 'shared posts', but the implementation is really bad. Currently when you share a post to a group all that happens is that the number of 'shared posts' at the top of the group increments up one. Most people have no idea that the post is there.
If someone wants a check box to turn off 'shared posts' that is fine, but I think the default should be to show them in the group feed.

If you want to share the post to a specific person, you can tag them.

Reverse share, meaning post to the group first then share it on the public feeds.

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, that works. But it doesn't work for more than one group. Suppose JP makes some great statement, which I post in the JP fans group. But it is about guns, so I want to share post it to the guns group...

@VonO There is an option to share to other groups as well...

@SpikeTalon Yes, that is what I am talking about. Have you tried it? When you go to the group it is 'shared' in, all that has happens is that the little box called 'shared posts' is incremented by one. If you click that then you only see shared posts!

@VonO Didn't do that to me, how odd...

@SpikeTalon What post did you do it to? Let me look. I can show you several of mine...

@VonO No good, they were test posts I was referring to when I was new to this site, and did them to help Admin find bugs. I still suspect you are using the wrong option...

@SpikeTalon OK, let me tell you how I go about it.

  1. I make a post to a group. Say my gun control post.
  2. I then open it up and 'share' it to another group.
  3. If I go to that second group, at the top, is a little box called 'shared posts'. The number is now one higher. BUT the post I just made is not in the list of posts in that group>
  4. IF I hit the box 'shared posts' then I can see my new post... but none of the regular posts!

@SpikeTalon So if you go to the JP fans group, you will NOT see my latest post. If you hit the 'shared posts' button you will.

@VonO Something in the code for the groups must have recently broke, you are correct, when you select that option to share to other groups it should not show up under the shared tab, so that's a new glitch. I'll let Admin know. Not surprised to hear such though, as several tweaks were made to this site recently, even to the groups.

@SpikeTalon Stil not fixed.
