I keep saying this - and even I think I'm a little nuts for doing so - but these are all the hallmarks of a civilization in complete collapse. History is replete with empires that have fallen to their own decadence and groupthink. How many people were sent to the guillotine during the French Revolution - including Robespierre himself, eventually - for not getting all-on-board with the newthink?

History tells us what to expect next. There will be purges. Dissenters will be rounded up and either sent to gulag or thrown into mass graves. It can't happen here? That's what every collapsing civilization said.

So, what are you going to do to survive? And here's a hint: grabbing your gun and preparing to make war, isn't the right answer, unless of course you're looking to be taken out in a so-called blaze of glory. People have to survive the night of long knives in order to begin the undercurrent of pushing back and you can't do that if you're dead.
