I started off life as a hardcore lefty, I was anti military anti religion and thought all republicans were stupid. But I kept getting stumped in arguments with the right. I thought it was my lack of knolage so I started devoting a lot of time researching topics so I would have plenty of intellectual ammunition to use against the right. Turns out the more I researched the more my long held beliefs started to fall apart. I was trying to fight facts with emotion and getting stompted on. I still don't call myself a Republican because just like the dems they will eat their own if you do not agree 100% with the party line, but at least they will talk about the issues and use data logic to argue and allow me to argue back with data and logic. Not red pilled just clarity pilled.

Hi there...noob myself and just as bewildered at the current state of affairs. Sad that we basically have to “gather in secret”, just to discuss said climate. I’m somewhere in the middle...fiscally conservative but socially liberal. More of a patriot than anything, I suppose, and find myself growing tired of the labels. At the end of the day, don’t we all essentially want the same thing? Mutual respect and the opportunity to ebb and flow on life’s tides, in relative peace? Maybe I’m too simple-minded but I have to believe that’s still achievable. Anyway, nice to meet you!

You appear to be a classical liberal. Regressive leftism has hijacked the agenda of the Democratic party, leaving most classical liberals in support of the GOP, the "lesser of the evils". The U.S. desperately needs a third, major, centrist, political party.

It sounds like you're in the right place.

I was the same when it came to Trump. At first I was, "NO WAY!" and as things progressed, the choice became obvious. I'm from Arkansas so I knew I couldn't vote for Hillary. I was raised in a Democrat household, but as an adult, after actually LOOKING at the political platforms and party histories, I see that I lean more right and/or libertarian but do hold leftists views on many things.

I'm an independent in a Red state, so I've got more friends than you (currently). LOL!

I also was on the fence regarding Trump! Before his first yr was over I spent a Sun. Afternoon to research! I searched his to date actual accomplishments, Finished, In work, failed amongst other things! His accomplishments as of that early time were astonishing to say the least! Far above what the media ever spoke about! That day I was a believer,, but, I spot check often! At that time, and still don’t always agree with his methods at times however I will be darned if they don’t work! I since understand his opposition and collaborated effort to obstruct and destroy the man! He’s not a game piece and his fight is real!
