As much as I fear Mr. Hanks lacks the intellect to understand Constitutional principles, from which he enjoys a lavish lifestyle, he is correct that sociopathic depravity is a human variant within a few percent of the population that exists everywhere in humans, not just Hollywood.
Some are also critics of the Catholic Church for the same reason, who fail to realize that is only because it is an human institution just like any other, populated by humans just like any other, and a small percentage of them can and do cause a great deal of harm. They do everywhere, and there is no system of governance, and no legislation that can control human nature. If there were, we would not have a tenth of the human population in prisons. And tyranny can drive it underground only for limited periods of time.
Is Hanks acting the part of being concerned about depravity not carrying the day? Or is his concern genuine. He is a good actor, and I am unable to discern.
