THE GOVT WILL PAY FOR YOU TO GET….
We, the people need to recognize this lie and call it out. This statement is frequently used by politicians and corporate sales campaigns.
TRUTH: The government pays for nothing! They authorize the use of your money to charge you and take credit for giving you something that the citizens have paid for.
The reason the US can’t pay the bills with the trillions of dollars they take out of the wallets of citizens each year (without borrowing trillions of dollars more each year) is that we have elected irresponsible people as our stewards. We live within our means, because we understand that you can't borrow forever; some day the creditors will say, No more” and “pay me what you owe now or I’ll take everything you have or will ever have”
When you hear, “It’s Free” or “the government will pay for it”, you must understand the government pays for nothing, because they have no money other than the money they take from US citizens. They are spending your money. NOTHING IS FREE! Somebody has or will pay for it and you can count on it costing much more than if you bought it yourself.

- Contact your reps about EVERY spending bill in your district. Its easy. A quick email with the bill number and just say yes or no. Look up Current Bills in Congress, and you can find them all.
My reps say they only hear from me. One said that if he heard from 20 people, it could change his vote.

I agree, with a few caveats.
Fair Tax is a great idea and would be a major reduction in the number of dollars paid by many people. However it would never go through, because of all the low income people who barely make ends meet who actually have a negative tax bill.
Representatives that say they never hear from anybody tend to be lying. Every time (except one) I have contacted a representative (or Senator) I have received a form letter that isn’t even addressing the issue I raised about a vote. The one time they replied with an email that did address the issue, it was because I mentioned the fact that I wasn’t convinced the staff members reading these letters ever brought the concerns to the representative or Senator themselves.
The majority of bills/votes cover many different issues and many should absolutely be voted for while many in the same bill should absolutely be voted against.
They need to have clean bills with a single clearly stated issue/resolution. Then they wouldn’t be able to give an excuse for not voting for something they should have voted for or voting for something they should have voted against.
@Daveclark5 If you do the math, you see that under the FairTax the IRS shrinks to about a tenth of its current size to administer funds to those who pay too much in sales taxes, which ends up being about a third of the earning public, and far easier to verify by W2s than chasing loopholes claimed by the wealthy.
No one needs to keep receipts under the FairTax because the tax is in the purchase.
I have received form letters mainly from Democrat reps. And only one President never answered me: Biden. 90% of the answers I have received have been on point, and George Bush, Reagan, and a few Republican Senators and Reps answered me personally. When I lived in California, Bill Thomas showed me the file of letters he got from his district for that term. He held them in one hand.
