2301201700F LIBERAL (not political party affiliation) – WHAT IS IT?

I’ve become dismayed by the repetitious whine by ‘leftists’ that they’re ‘liberal’ or even ‘progressive liberals’ when they’re nothing remotely resembling even their concept(s). Being totalitarian in no way resembles being ‘liberal,’ ‘libertarian’ or any other derivative thereof such as ‘classical liberal.’

Obviously leftists have appropriated and corrupted the word ‘liberal’ just as they appropriated and corrupted the word ‘socialism.’ Leftists have corrupted the word ‘socialism’ so badly that it’s now used interchangeably without distinction with the word ‘communism.’

Admittedly the word ‘liberal’ is used sprightly in a spurious manner everywhere we look today – primarily by deceptive political parties purporting to be what they most certainly are not – such as the American democrat party. A political party that not only misrepresents itself as liberal but democratic as well – when it is neither.

The American leftists have now shifted the political Overton Window so far to the left that now it’s a common refrain by someone considered conservative that they’re ‘Classical Liberal’ or perhaps even Libertarian politically. All that’s really happened is the political frame of reference has been moved on them by leftists ideologues. I’m not saying that the far right doesn’t exist – I’m saying that I don’t know of any. I think that most Americans, if pinned down on it, would say they’re either ‘Classical Liberals’ or possibly even ‘libertarians’-- certainly not communists. You’ll have to decide that matter for yourself as an individual rather than collectively as a communist.

PS. Never ever apologies to a communist as they’ve twisted language so much they interpret an apology as an admission of guilt rather than polite empathy.

Another early sense ‘generous’ (compare with liberal) gave rise to an obsolete meaning ‘free from restraint’, leading to liberal (late 18th century).
