The mass casualty, triage, does have a flag system with the black meaning, “don’t spend any time on this patient, because the will certainly die anyway”…(usually). If an explosive charge from a bomb dropped on a person is large enough, it will vaporize that person. Etc….
It sound so much more dramatic and convincing when you string bits and pieces of data together to prove an untenable point to people you believe are stupid enough to just take your word for it, especially if you can stoke their fear ahead of time or take advantage of a bad situation for your political gain.
