LINK Twitter adopts 'poison pill' to prevent Elon Musk takeover
Under the plan, which is also referred to as a "poison pill", shareholders' rights will become exercisable if an entity, person or group acquires beneficial ownership of 15% or more of Twitter's outstanding common stock in a transaction not approved by the board. In the event that the rights become exercisable, shareholders will be entitled to purchase additional shares of common stock at a discounted rate.
The board says the plan "is intended to enable all shareholders to realize the full value of their investment in Twitter" and will "reduce the likelihood that any entity, person or group gains control of Twitter through open market accumulation without paying all shareholders an appropriate control premium or without providing the Board sufficient time to make informed judgments and take actions that are in the best interests of shareholders."

I think Elon has enough global name recognition that if he chose to start his own social media platform from scratch, it would have millions of subscribers on the first day. He is very popular among students and young people in my country. His platform would likely be way more successful than Trump's Truth Social, which appears to have hit a snag.

Devon Nunes is bringing TruthSocial up very slowly and methodically. Sadly the world has no patience for such an approach. Nunes may not have been the right man to bring Trump's app to the market.
As to Musk developing his own new app, I doubt that is what interests him.
@toronto_Georgia If Elon did come up with one, I'd wager a meal all Slug members would be signed up within a week. The name VirtualSpace or vSpace would be cool.
@eschatologyguy, @toronto_Georgia I also doubt he's interested. But maybe if someone tells him there won't be a humanity left to take to Mars if we can't have reliable free speech.
@JordanMiller @eschatologyguy,I suspect he'd just see another "town hall" as splintering and not really addressing the problem of free speech. He seems to be more interested in expanding Twitter's base back to pre-censorship status making it a true Town Hall experience where all could voice diverse opinions, philosophies and politics making it a truly democratic space. There is absolutely no point in an ever increasing splintered selection - conservatives go here, libs go there, gays go there, latinos over there, blacks over here, trans go over here ... all just speaking to the choir.
