Fossil fuel industry mocks 'virtue-signalling' North Face
Sky News host Rita Panahi says clothing brand North Face has been mocked by the fossil fuel industry for its “corporate virtue signalling” in a searing online advertisement.
North Face received widespread praise after it announced it will not fulfill orders from Innovex, with the clothing company claiming it views oil and gas in the same way as the tobacco or porn industries.
Ms Panahi said the industry did not take the criticism lying down, with Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright producing an advertisement thanking North Face’s reliance on oil and gas when it produces its products.

Duck and goose down far outperform human-engineered fills. It has a far lower density, and the lower the density, the better the thermal insulation quality. Humans should give thanks to ducks and geese.

You can collect goose down painlessly by getting it from nests. This is "moult
down", or "virtue down". Or you can collect it painfully, by live plucking. This is "conflict down".
China announced that there is no live plucking in China. IKEA sent investigators and found wanton live plucking, and IKEA ceased buying Chinese goose down.
North Face launched the "Responsible Down Standard" in 2014, to draw attention to how goose down is collected.
What counts is: Is North Face getting their down from Chinese live plucking, or from nest moult?
The best down that exists is Eider duck down. There is a Canadian down farm that
harvests Eider down exclusively from nest moult, and they support a vast number of Eider ducks. These ducks have it good. Free food and a nice habitat.
This farm sells Eider down for $1000/kg.

I never bought NF products in the first place but if I did...I would vow to never buy it again...just as I have done with Gillette products. Back when Gillette ran ad campaigns depicting White men as sexually aggressive/harassers of women (because of their Whiteness and maleness) I vowed to NEVER buy another Gillette product again - and I'm sticking to it today.
Oh and BTW, back when Dick's Sporting Goods virtue signaled about guns and ammo - (they eliminated all firearms and ammunition from their inventory) I vowed to never again set foot into a Dick's Sporting Goods store...and I have lived up to that vow.
