I have recently learned that there is 'Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation' and there is 'Black Lives Matter Foundation'. They are NOT related to one another at all.
The former is a self-claimed Marxist organisation which aims to destroy capitalism, defund police, etc. and the latter is an organisation that has one paid employee and has a very different goal, according to its founder: 'bringing the community and police closer together.'

Still, I question the legitimacy of both organisations. Apparently, neither of them has properly filed a financial disclosure statement (990 in America?), as to how they have been spending millions of dollars donated to them, since they were founded several years ago.
It's confusing... It's hard to know which charities and organisations are genuine, whatever cause they say they are fighting for.

When you donate, you are donating to a 3rd party that is a 501c3 so you can write off your donation and then they transfer the money to BLM. The BLM that we are familiar with is a corporation.
FYI, you can look up any 501c3 or anyone that has applied for 501c3 status on the IRS's website in a matter of seconds. It's public information.

The last sentence is about charities in general, but you're right, and I know, that the BLM organisations are not charities.

But I am like you as well. I question what they are doing with the money they are receiving. My guess is nothing productive.

Well, APPARENTLY, not one black neighbourhood cleaned up, not one poor black child sent to college, and the list goes on, since they were founded several years ago. If it's true, they've let down many many people who believe that they've been fighting for the right causes.

I'm always interested in who collects the donations for a group and who benefits from those funds. BLM's official site's fund raising is hosted by ActBlue. This is one of the Democratic Party's collection sites.
