This is where Mike Heiser's personal Eschatological view bleeds into his interpretation of the text, ignoring the numerous prophecies of the existence of a literal rebuilt third temple in Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Zachariah, the book of Revelation, etc., and the prophetic words of the Lord Jesus Himself in Matthew 24. But I still watch his videos. I guess nobody gets everything right 100% of the time, and it is for us to prayerfully seek out the truth. Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Like in Daniel 8:13-14 the Holy one in his vision says to him that from the time the daily sacrifices begin in the newly rebuilt 3rd temple to the desolation and to its eventual cleansing, it would take 2,300 days. That is very hard to allegorize. And this is a very important timeline as the Lord Himself will be cleansing it, as He cleansed the 2nd temple at His first advent by driving the money changers away. When the sacrifices start, you can start counting 2,300 days to His cleansing of the temple. Which also means the sacrifices resumes 220 days after the start of the 7-year "70th week" false peace. Can the 3rd temple be rebuilt in 220 days? You tell me.
And how would you allegorize or spiritualize Matt 24:15 and onward? How would you put the church in that scenario?
Likewise in Zach 14:16-21 it speaks of the attendance requirement to the annual feast of tabernacles and the sacrifice requirement from the nations, not as an atonement for sin, but as a form of worship to the King. And this is my personal view: that in the Millennium the Lord will rule from His throne at the mercy seat in the holy of holies inside the 3rd temple.
