Around 8 a.m. on Dec. 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service. The attack led to thousands of deaths and the United States formal entry into World War II.-

I was friends to Harry Web, the merchant seaman who was in Pearl Harbor on that day. Harry was fortunate that the Japanese Naval Aviators thought the cargo vessels in port were targets beneath their Samurai dignity and did not bomb or strafe his ship. Harry was involved in assisting damage control and rescue parties throughout the week.
