BTW have any of you (here on IDW) seen the movie "Colossus: The Forbin Project" ?
From 1970. Its very entertaining - and I wonder if the writers of that movie or book or screen play made it as a "metaphor" for Man vs Machine or if they did indeed think they were prophesying a future evolution of computer technology. I was 19 back then. I found the movie to be thought provoking. It really tweaks the imagination - which is the stock and trade of SciFi writers.

I saw Colossus. I think it proposed a credible potential problem with AI. And it depends on how it is written and empowered. Do we know those things? Do we know the morality of those writing AI? Are they intelligent enough to foresee the danger - even to themselves???
Isaac Asimov might agree with you. He created the three rules of AI in his science fiction novels. It is clear that he thought them through quite carefully, as if they were going to apply to real AI. Those I know actually working in AI for reputable companies are aware of those rules. Does Google care? Microsoft? Any of the others owned by those with WEF members on their boards???
