Yeah, sadly, the EU Parliament is as politically powerful as we are here in the dark corners of the Internet. It is only for show, which is frequently shadow banned, not broadcast at all, or only covered by a few Jurnos who are not corporate media. They may raise a bit more awareness if such videos get viral on the interwebs, but that is about it. They made the European Commission a de facto fascist type entity and they put that stupid abomination of the most moronic thing in Europe, Ursula, in charge. In reality, she’s not really in charge because she gets her scripts from either WEF or US neocon think tanks or Wall Street, or Big Pharma, depending on external interests, managed to push their agendas ahead of others. Last two years it was Big Pharma and WEF dictating terms, since Ukraine thing it was US neocon think tanks using NATO to push their agenda where the EU ends up being an appendix to the US-led NATO aggressive expansion. And in between that you have WEF uncle Klaus and their think tanks writing insane watermelon policies, pushing mass immigration, surveillance capitalism, etc.

Few brave and well meaning MEP's like Cristian Terhes can at best bring about some awareness if clips like that go viral on the Internet, but that is about it in terms of political real power.

In reality they are just puppets dictating to local puppets prime ministers and presidents.

Is there no one sane who could be elected to the European Parliament?

@warminster100 It would not make any difference in the giant EU bureaucracy that is corrupt form head to toe. its like in other similar arrangement, like Federal Government of USA. Mask and jab mandates, lock downs, border control, forign policy, we have seen Washington does not care what some guverner of some state or local mayor things, do they. EU is like that only more bureaucratic.

@warminster100 The European Parliament (Europarl or EP) is the directly elected parliamentary body of the European Union (EU). Together with the Council of the European Union (the Council), it forms the bicameral legislative branch of the Union's institutions and has been described as one of the most powerful legislatures in the world.[1] The Parliament and Council form the highest legislative body within the Union.

The Parliament is composed of 785 MEPs (Member of the European Parliament) who serve the second largest democratic electorate in the world (after India) and the largest trans-national democratic electorate in the world (492 million).

It has been directly elected every five years by universal suffrage since 1979. Although the European Parliament has legislative power that such bodies as those above do not possess, it does not have legislative initiative like most national parliaments. While it is the "first institution" of the European Union (mentioned first in the treaties, having ceremonial precedence over all authority at European level), the Council has greater powers over legislation than the Parliament where codecision procedure (equal rights of amendment and rejection) does not apply. It has, however, had control over the EU budget since the 1970s and has a veto over the appointment of the European Commission.

The Parliament and Council are essentially two chambers in the bicameral legislative branch of the European Union, with legislative power officially distributed equally between both chambers. However there are some differences from national legislatures; for example, neither the Parliament nor Council have the power of legislative initiative. In Community matters, this is a power uniquely reserved for the European Commission (the executive). While Parliament can amend and reject legislation, and make a proposal for legislation, it needs the Commission to draft a bill before anything can become law.[11]

The Parliament also has indirect influence, through non-binding resolutions and committee hearings, as a "pan-European soapbox" with the ear of thousands of Brussels-based journalists. There is also an indirect effect on foreign policy; the Parliament must approve all development grants, including those overseas. For example, the support for post-war Iraq reconstruction, or incentives for the cessation of Iranian nuclear development, must be supported by the Parliament. Parliamentary support was also required for the transatlantic passenger data-sharing deal with the United States

The President of the European Commission is proposed by the Council (in practice by the European Council) and that proposal has to be approved by the Parliament (by a simple majority), essentially giving the Parliament a veto but not propose the head of the executive. Following the approval of the Commission President, the members of the Commission are proposed by the President in accord with the member-states. Each Commissioner comes before a relevant parliamentary committee hearing covering the proposed portfolio. They are then, as a body, approved or rejected by the Parliament.[6] In practice, the Parliament has never voted against a President or his Commission.

The parliamentarians are known in English as Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). They are elected every five years by universal adult suffrage and sit according to political allegiance, about a third are women. Prior to 1979 they were appointed by their national parliaments. The number now stands at 751, with each member state having at least six and at most 96 MEPs.

As states are allocated seats according to population, the total number of MEPs should be 732; however, after January 1, 2007 there were 785 MEPs. This was due to the accession of Romania and Bulgaria, as the allocation of seats does not take into account members that join mid-term. Under the existing rules the number of members would have been reduced again to 732 following the 2009 election[20] however the rules were due to be changed under the Lisbon Treaty. Instead, there would be 751 members, however the President would no longer be counted as a voting member once in office so in practice there would be 750 members.[21] In addition, the maximum number of seats allocated to a state would be lowered to ninety-six, from the current ninety-nine, and the minimum number of seats would be raised to six, from the current five. These seats are distributed according to "degressive proportionality," meaning that the larger the state, the more citizens that are represented per MEP.

MEPs in Parliament are organized into seven different parliamentary groups, including fifteen non-attached members known as non-inscrits. The two largest groups are the European People's Party-European Democrats (EPP-ED) and the Party of European Socialists (PES). These two groups have dominated the Parliament for much of its life, continuously holding between 50 and 70 percent of the seats together. No single group has ever held a majority in Parliament.[23]

Groups are often based around a single European political party such as the socialist group. However they can include more than one European party as well as national parties and independents, like the liberal group. For a group to be recognized, it needs 20 MEPs from six different countries. Once recognized groups receive financial subsidies from the parliament and guaranteed seats on Committees, creating an incentive for the formation of groups. However some controversy occurred with the establishment of the Identity, Tradition, Sovereignty (ITS) due to its ideology; the members of the group are far-right, so there were concerns about public funds going towards such a group. There were attempts to change the rules to block the formation of ITS, however that never came to fruition. They were, however, blocked from gaining leading positions on committees–a right that is meant to be afforded to all parties.[24] When this group engaged in infighting, causing the withdrawal of some members, its size fell below the recognizable limit causing its collapse.

@warminster100 The European Commission (formally the Commission of the European Communities) is the executive branch of the European Union. It operates in the method of cabinet government, with 27 "Commissioners," one for each country of the EU, led by a Commission President (Ursula von der Leyen ). The present Commission, known after its President as the "Barroso Commission" took office in late 2004 and is serving a five-year term. The body is responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the Union's treaties and the general day-to-day running of the Union

The term "Commission" can mean either the college of Commissioners, or the larger institution; including the administrative body of about 25,000 European civil servants, who are divided into departments called Directorates-General. It is primarily based in the Berlaymont building of Brussels and its internal working languages are English, French and German.

Originating in 1951 as the High Authority, the Commission has undergone numerous changes in power and composition under eleven Presidents.

Today Commission President (Ursula von der Leyen ) acts as de facto queen of the Europian beurocratic empire.

And she takes her barking orders from those above her that I listed before, making Europian Parlament and councel all part of the package who won't go against it, with few dissadent MEP's like in the video you shared, but they have no real power.

Legislative initiative

The Commission differs from the other institutions in that it alone has legislative initiative over the European Community, meaning only the Commission can make formal proposals for legislation – bills cannot originate in the legislative branch. But when everyone is bascially part of the same ideological mega beurocratic empire, all is done behind close doors , so in practice it means if Ursuala is instructed to get something she will get others to propose the bill, sign it and than use extortion, cooersion, propaganda , bribes etc to enforce it.

Enforcement

Once legislation is passed, it is the Commission's responsibility to ensure it is implemented. It does this through the member states or through its agencies. In adopting the necessary technical measures, the Commission is assisted by committees made up of representatives of member states (a process known in jargon as "comitology" ).[33] Furthermore, the Commission is responsible for the implementation of the EU budget; ensuring, along with the Court of Auditors, that EU funds are correctly spent.

Same is for budget. Others in theory can limit the budget, but in reality its all pre arranged and comission gets to make decisions where it will be spent. I'll leave that part to your green imagiantion hehe

@warminster100 Sane people don't go to politics, because they are decent and sane. And if they did go , they would either lose their sanity and decency or not get very far. That is why this system we have in the west terrible. Its design to be corrupt to the core and not let anyone other than corrupt people in. Its a parasitic state within a state.

14 years ago: Christopher Story - The European Union Collective

Apr 4, 2008 The European Union is a strategic deception operation. Masquerading as a means of institutionalising 'cooperation', it has been more accurately described by the cynical former President Mikhail Gorbachev as 'the new European Soviet'. Far from primarily representing a vehicle for furthering the various interests of its members, the European Union is in reality a Political Collective -- modelled along classically Leninist lines.

Its Member States have collectivised most of their interests in perpetuity -- a collective act of revolutionary madness, since the EU's real purpose is to strip European countries of their residual political, social and economic independence and sovereignty, and to control and absorb them within itself. It is indeed 'the enemy of its Member States'. The time has long since come for exposure of this corrupt collectivist geopolitical menace, and Christopher Story's book does just that.

The Brussels Business (2012) is a documentary film by Friedrich Moser and Matthieu Lietaert about the lack of transparency and the influence of lobbyists on the decision-making process in Brussels, the European Union capital. It also underlines the instrumental role of the European Roundtable of Industrialists in the making of the European Single Market as well as the construction of the European Services Forum, a core actor in the structuration of the service industry lobbying in Brussels. The film has been very popular in Brussels and Austria and is going to be Screened in other European Union theaters.

The Brussels Business is produced by Steven Dhoedt and Friedrich Moser, a docu-thriller that dives into the grey zone underneath European democracy. An expedition into the world of the 15,000 lobbyists in the EU-capital, of the PR-conglomerates, think tanks and their all embracing networks of power and their close ties to the political elites.

And that was way back in 2012. You can imagine the shit show it is now? Especially after covid power grab and ECB money printing. (Europian Central Bank)
