I've heard this kind of talk on both sides. Personally, I simply just don't agree with the progressive left ideology. However, forcing someone to accept my beliefs is different that expecting someone to tolerate my beliefs. Have we reached the point where both sides can't even tolerate each other? I seriously hope not.

Tolerance appears to be the watered poison they fed the body politic in hopes it would build stamina enough to tolerate the full strength poison they're feeding it now.

"Re-education" is pointless. The divide in America isn't about a lack of education, but of control.
You have two groups of very wealthy career politicians enriching themselves through setting economic policy. Used to be, they could at least agree enough to share the wealth, but an emergent China as a world economy changed that. Now you have a fundamental split: one side thinks of China as a dangerous adversary; the other as a business partner.
Since these philosophies cannot co-exist, each group is working to consolidate and control its power base. And frankly, the Republicans are badly losing, because they will not court any group they cannot control. The Democrats are more than willing to court fringe radicals, socialists, pro-Marxists, illegal aliens, whatever gets them support. If you really think about it, the current Democratic Party is anything BUT liberal, and this is a path they have consciously chosen.
I would expect the next four years to be spent solidifying their power and that includes vilifying conservatives to the degree that anyone considering leaving the Left will think twice. Observe that the #WalkAway campaign was one of the first channels to be completely banned from FB, following the Capitol riot.
Which is to say, NONE of the hateful rhetoric is accidental or a failure to understand or empathize.
