And, no, this isn't ABOUT Trump. It is much more about the little guy. Trump is just one high-profile example, (probably the most significant high-profile example) of the egregious politically-motivated abuses of power being perpetrated by these mega corporations.

Excessive consolidation of power is dangerous to society, whether it is consolidated in a government, a corporation, or an anti-competitive mishmash of various entities working together to repress the masses for their own benefit.

I have finally figured out why otherwise intelligent people seem unable to process the reality that Trump while he may not have been the solution he certainly wasn't the problem. He has always been more of a Clinton than a Nixon. It comes down to being able to detect what the proper doctrine is and repeat the dogma. Doing otherwise has few personal upsides and lots of downsides. Cognitive dissonance is a small price to pay to avoid being a social outcast for most people.

@JacksonNought I believe I have heard of them, but I'm not really familiar with them (remember, I'm not American, myself).

Just looking at what appears to be a sort of mission statement on their website, I can say that I agree with it in principle. Of course, many organizations have their good and bad points, and act in ways more or less in line with their stated mission, so as someone who is unfamiliar with them, I couldn't give my endorsement without further research.

@DaveO276 ah, ok, I will explain what I mean then. Citizens United was a controversial US Supreme Court decision which stated that corporations are considered people, and therefore granted the same First Amendment rights - specifically allowing corporations unlimited spending into electioneering and special interests to elect or defeat a political candidate.

I think those with resources should be allowed to use them as they see fit within the law, including to publish and promote their own opinions. Using one's money and power to project one's own voice is one thing. Using one's money and power to silence dissenting voices is another thing altogether.
