How come? I agree that you certainly don't leave it just by seeing it. But could you expand on the idea of always having one? Who? Nobody is free? What about our farmers?
@A1fredo Cooperation between a group of people provides power to the group. A group is more powerful than a lone individual. A person who tries to be independent will inevitably be overruled by the will of the group.
Human beings are inherently hierarchical and any sizable group will inevitably have some form of hierarchy. There is a person, or small group at the top of the hierarchy, but, if they have no other higher master, their master is the group, which collectively has power over them and can overrule them or even depose them and put someone else at the top.
People use deception, various forms of politics, etc. to increase their own influence over others in systems where there is not violence and overt control. Everyone has external influences that virtually "rule" them, whether these are people, responsibilities, environmental factors, etc. and many of these can be manipulated by people of means and cunning to exercise power over others.
In the video, Stefan documented the historical movement from hard power to soft power. Soft power is less overt and sometimes more difficult for those under it to notice, but it is still power and it can be more potent for certain uses, as Stefan documented in the video.
If you really want to be free from all masters, you could try disappearing out of your society and finding a "no man's land" somewhere to live out your days in isolation as a primitive hunter-gatherer... if such a place still exists.
Molyneux is always brilliant also a complete ham but watchable always.
