Gotta love the hysteria. Of course, people do die if the joke goes on for too long.
Watching the local news this evening and, apparently, a basketball coach at WVU has been accused of "making insensitive remarks." He's been put on suspension, and his accuser has been nominated for sainthood, I think. I don't know. I don't care. Well, I do care because our sons go to school in state. All they have to do is be there. Will they kneel when ordered? I don't know. I hope not---unless their lives are in danger, then they
can remember what it felt like to be dominated by people ordering them to do as they're told or else. That should build some good will down the road, for sure.
But, back to the hysteria. . .
Dorothy Rabinowitz wrote a fascinating series of columns in the Wall St. Journal about the Amirault family who were accused of Satanic ritualistic child abuse. This was during a time of mass hysteria about Satanic cults. You might want to look of the history of the prosecutor, Martha Coakley.
It's been a while, but at least one of the family died in prison and...on and on...
Sure, you can take your life into your own hands by going downtown while rioters are on the loose, but there are lots of other ways you can lose it, some of them legal. Just get noticed by somebody in a given moment. Reminds me a little of my Jr. High Days---

Once the RUSH is on, it's a headlong jump into the rocks below.
Anything and everything can be interpreted a certain way and it's FAST and nobody wants otherwise, just heading on, trampling whatever is in the way.
Hatred is SO EASY to foment, and it doesn't go away.
Being Christian has been the answer for all that.
But I still feel/sense the agitation, malaise.
I see so much entitlement. So many false rights.
Then, innocent people can be put away, while the agitators go free.
Have you asked your sons their views?

As far as our sons, they're a product of Nature, Nurture, and Themselves. They're human, as are we all.
They've been swimming in this stew in a different way. Their cohort are Individuals, not group thinkers. They like that...Intellectual Diversity.
So, in answer to how they'll respond---the best they can. If they get the shit knocked out of them, it better be their idea, not someone else's. Likewise, if they have to thump someone, it better be because it needed done, not because a mob mentality was driving their actions. Therein lies the problem. There are no "safe spaces."
Back when I was an adolescent, more than once somebody looked at me, pointed, and thought to himself,
"Him." There's no easy fix for that. It's a hard learning curve.

As you put, it's UNIQUE, different, no ONE size.
Have you asked them their views?
Are they familiar with group 'think's which is definitely NOT think?
I'm leery of ALL groups, so subtle sometimes.
This virus is being used to shape, control us. Many perhaps myself may not even notice.
I wonder how many protesters got the virus?
Lot of false platforms.
I am fortunate insofar as I know that our sons know their own minds. Their views are there own, which is all a father can ask for.
