As a feminist and award-winning dramatist in the 80s and 90s (as Vivienne Laxdal) I was associated with the Great Canadian Theatre Company and the National Arts Centre. I wrote several plays for children and adults that were produced across Canada and in the US. One of my plays, These Girls, was adapted to a feature film that premiered at the TIFF in 2005. Requiring greater stability at the turn of the millennium, I underwent a drastic life change and began working in program and regulatory development in the Federal Government. Now in my later 50s, I am surprised to be experiencing a major shift in my political and ideological perspectives - which have been influenced and supported by a) my husband, b) the ready access to and availability of information and debate through social media, and c) most predominantly, JBP.
