Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.It is unfortunate and outdated to think a fine of up to $250,000 and jail time is a deterrent to a crime where they stand to reap $ millions to $ hundreds of millions. The punishment should start with a fine equal to 100% of the known take; then it should continue with a prison sentence that includes a requirement to pay for the cost of his incarceration by working to provide their own food and the food of homeless shelters (also cleaning up after natural disasters and other things that give back to the society from which they stole). They should be credited for their contributions in order to pay back the victims of their crimes, but they should not be able to keep the wages for their own selfish use until they have fully paid back society for the cost they have exacted.
I understand this is “a bridge too far”, because of those who think the rights of the predictor outweigh the rights of the victims, but that’s my opinion any way.
