Although CNN is worse than worthless now, they were actually a reputable news source in the early 1990s. Some Intel personnel from within the US military would look at CNN as a resource. CNN sometimes had earlier Intel than the US military.
Even if CNN chose to start being an honest broker news organization, the best they could expect from thinking Americans would be a “trust but verify” attitude. That is, one in which we don’t immediately discount everything they say as a lie or a leftist politically slanted deception. Before believing anything they say, we would still do our own research and analysis.
