And little as George might want to be involved on a day-to-day basis any longer, I'd wager he'd do it in order to keep the IP in line with his vision.
But this is the problem with woke capitalism: the narrative is now more important than profits, or even profitability. As we have heard a number of times over the last several weeks, business strategists urge companies to lean hard left - not because of political correctness - but because people on the Right will - for the most part - continue to do business with your company, even if they disagree with your politics, whereas the Left will not only refuse to do business with you, but will start campaigns to harm your business.(1)
So even though that Disney can plainly see the level of fan excitement and support over the Mandalorian and the return of fan favorite characters, it will not commit to a course of action that will upset the Left, irrespective of whether the Left even financially supports Disney or buys their merchandise.(2)
(1) For example, the campaigns launched against Goya Foods, for the crime of supporting then President Trump, even though Goya is a Latino family-owned company
(2) If woke activists did, then "The High Republic" would be doing gangbusters right now instead of having to rely on predatory industry practices to artificially inflate their sales numbers.
