Goddammit. I hate watching assholes mocking "ancient technology" while I'm drooling wishing I could have something like that. Sigh. Don't you throw away your electronics. Everything is useful. If you don't use an old laptop to build up your own server to help with decetralization, you can get a free CD drive, webcam, touchpad, keyboard, WiFi card, hard drive, and possibly a screen out of the parts!! Sigh...If somebody wants to use your old stuff, I'll gladly help you out telling you how to install Linux, and getting the necessary software on it so you can run it. Sigh... Such an incredible amount of perfectly good hard drives thrown out, and I have to keep deleting 5 gigs to 5 gigs every time I need to render some video... >_< Somebody think of the children!!

It did sort of work with Linux but really a raspberry pie was actually better and a whole lot easer to deal with, no need for a hand truck or special power circuit. Harvested all the copper out of it, the fans were useful and the sheet metal covers were re purposed.

yeah, but Raspberry Pis are expensive. Ive wanted one since I saw them. So sexy. Are they fully functional computers? i didnt dig into them because window shopping breaks my heart
its been a few years since I messed with one, Yes they are fully functional computers. Also messed with Arduino too, they are more like a PLC
Way better style. A better life. So many of us DON'T KNOW, no clue.
I only use tablet, choice of mine. You have also to be somewhat adept with that, the mental capacity for it. I try, get some things.

Well, necessity is the mother of all inventions, so the most illiterate here still knows how to take a component from a laptop and wire it into a USB plug. Most of the pieces are either USB, PS2, or common stuff like SATA. Our cell phones literally look like Frankestein with "veins" in and out the working device. Its kinda funny to see.
Tables are really cool, but far, far too risky. Theres no guarranty services here (especially as its ll second-hand, pawned or stolen haha Sigh.) Just imagine you spend your all on one, and plop It falls. Immediate heart attack xD I remember I wasted almost 100 USD on a Surface in a Pawn shop because it had Windows on it. I had to spend from other things and got in trouble for it. But I thought: cool, I can do su much with a full Windows tablet. Little did I know of yhe existance of Windows RT, a Windows that won't let you install any apps, and that the only app store for it had been abandoned by Microsoft years ago. From the few apps I could install, like half still worked. Not Skype, not any good stuff. I wanted to die. It was also locked so I could not install an alternative OS on it. I mean, thats just evil . It was capable. But they didnt want me to. Very first device I couldnt hack too. Miserable experience.

I was not raised on a computer diet, but rather music, philosophy. If you get it, great, and yes, if you gotta, wanna, yes. All our life together, we nicked and died, still have no hot water but boil it. No problem. I had this thing about 'low carbon footprints, not taking more bcuz people are suffering and I hate when others wanna rub my nose in their fortune. So I refuse to do it. We've had the same stuff for longer than you've been alive.
I don't CARE. I do care about freedom, oh, to sleep, eat whenever. About peace, quiet. That's us. We know one size doesn't fit all. We're content.
@2FollowHim You're right. Man, I'm still traumatized by the whole singing thing. I'm on of those who wasted a chunk of his life trying o so hard, and got to learn all the music theory, and physics behind it, but just never got it. Never. I just can't haha Don't mind me, just saying xD

They were AGONIZING. I explained NOT everybody had a math brain, BUT I told them they had a BEAUTY BRAIN, and that they just do what they could, no worries.
They looked at me with TEARS, and then TRIED HARDER.
They seemed to GET IT, well, somewhat.
