Regarding the Super Nintondo part, I worked with a Taiwanese dube back then that sold me a game copier that came from his native land, a simple DOS machine that you could plug in any cartridge, run a DOS program and the game was saved on a 3.5 floppy.

This applied to all games, so we had a library of oh, at least 1000 games, both unreleased in the USA (shit like Sumo Wrestling or the weirdest Japanese crap)
to the mundane, but there was no translation so one could not record a save point by simply wrighting down the save code. Meh, sorry, you guys really took me back
