Frances Muslim population is huge
He absolutely nailed it when calling out the credible threats on the life of a teenager. He also noted that, much like in America, they are so afraid of offending Islam, that they attempted to direct their legal focus against the victim.
His ignorance about the country in which the people in this story reside, the religion involved, the cultural issues, the cultural changes taking place in the country, etc... detract from his informed assessments. I wasn’t sure he even understood the significance of the statements “je suis Mila” followed by critics saying, “je ne suis pas Mila”. This was a very big related issue in the international news when a cartoon of Mohammad led to the fatwa and ultimate murder of the cartoonist. Hence the statement of support by all his countrymen, “Je suis Charlie”, indicating the entirety of the country identified as Charlie and their attack against him was an attack against all of them. It was tantamount to a declaration of war against the elements of Islam that would justify this fatwa and ultimately this murder.
The key point that can easily cross both cultures/countries and their laws is that there is a credible threat against a teenager.
