@A1fredo I agree, but democrats are just official party, the unofficial influence comes from more radical lefty organizations and groups, backed by educational establishment, media, big tech, and entertainment establishment, and possibly support from some major companies and from major league sports. That is a formidable collection of allies that should not be underestimated.

@KrunoS Yeah, we just got promoted to "employees" from slaves, just because Kings updated themselves to CEOs and they were too good for slaves now.

@A1fredo Well I'm careful with that line of thinking because its what Karl Marx was arguing. I do agree that as a society we haven't really eradicated slavery in a moral sense, only in a legal sense.

Morally slavery way about economics for the most part. Some slaves were for entertainment and sexual services, but most were a labor force. And as such human beings were treated as cattle. Something you own that has no legal rights of its own. And that you can treat badly with impunity. That way of treating people, putting economics and sadism over humanity is still very much present in the wonderful world of capitalism. Big companies and banks have no problem treating people like dirt and throw them away like an old shoe when they are no longer economically useful.

However there is a crucial difference between legal slavery and what we have today as "employees", which is that in a capitalist democratic society, a person can rise from a dishwasher to CEO. Something not possible in slavery days, and not possible in societies that are run by Marxist inspired ideas, like communist countries.

In a free market society, lets call it capitalist society, you are not under stricken rules about every single aspect of your culture like you are in communist society or in feudal times. And in many cases people themselves act very irresponsibly with their choices and assets. Buying beyond their earning power. Going into depth to buy things they don't need to impress people they don't know. So one must be careful where all the blame goes. Its not as clear cut.

@A1fredo I know. I guess in the larger historic context there are those who fight their way to the top and eventually fall, like seems to be the case with many Western wealthy nations these days, and there are poor countries that produce remarkable individuals who despite all of the hardships find a way. Its always been like this. I think its more productive to focus on what can be done with what we have than what we don't have.

@KrunoS It is when you have enough to build from there. Sadly -and trust me, I do mean "sadly" as it's humilliating- but sadly you need to ask for help by exposing that you cannot build up what you need if you want there to be any chance for you to maake it at all. How I wish I could be proud and never to let anyone know if I'm having any deficiencies. But I cant. It's either try to get help, or die as a proud fool.
