Absolutely it is, and it's 100% intentional. Basically, debt becomes a lot cheaper to pay back in cases of hyperinflation. The U.S has a LOT of debt.
Of course, the average guy is going to see their quality of life plummet, as well as 401K/IRA accounts quickly become worthless, but hey, the government isn't in the business of the interests of its people, is it?

Our governments have become the enemy. Yet the majority of people cannot or will not see it.
I don't think it's so much that they have become the enemy of the people as much as it is that our nation's oligarchs have become the new "noble" class, meaning their needs and wants take precedent on the needs of the "peasantry." And one of those needs/wants is the ability to control the country without those pesky peasants throwing a spanner in the works by electing someone who's going to come in and upset their carefully laid plans COUGHCOUGHTRUMPCOUGHCOUGH.
So they are basically pushing forward a plan whereby they are consolidating power and influence among the wealthy elite, while at the same time pushing a narrative that says you peasants should WANT this, because we'll take care of you. Hence the, "you'll own nothing and you'll be happy," quote.
People have forgotten what it means to be subjects instead of citizens.
