Not because they fired her; I respect their right to fire a public-facing employee that does not represent the company in the way the company desires. No, I canceled because of their unnecessary and spiteful character assassination of her on the way out the door by characterizing her comments as "abhorrent."
No, they weren't. And no, you didn't need to say that; that's pretty !@#$ing unprofessional, if you want my opinion.
But this is the same Disney that will NOT abandon woke capitalism. Tens of thousands of Rose Tico and Admiral Holdo figures sitting in a landfill, but the Cara Dune figures were headed to their third round of production at the time of Gina's firing. A spin-off series that people were going to watch SPECIFICALLY because she was in it. And let's not gloss over the loss of goodwill that LucasFilm just threw away by slowly bringing core fans back via The Mandalorian even though Kathleen Kennedy and the story group can't stand the Mandalorian and want you instead to pay attention to their "High Republic" project, which by all accounts was DOA.
I suspect that Disney will lose a lot more potential revenue than Gina will over this.
