My stepfather is my hero. Sixth Marine division, 15th Marines, headquarters company. Participated in the second Battle of Guam and the battle of Okinawa. For those of you who are not acquainted with the battle of Okinawa, the best description I have ever read was that is it was the basement of hell. In less than 90 days approximately 300000 people died. While he was in the headquarters company, they repelled 3 Japanese attacks. I've always been glad for the atomic bombs, or else I doubt I would ever met him
