In the 1980’s he and others raised the alarm about AIDS as the big epidemic that will destroy the US, and got tons of funding for it... none of his predictions came true... and while it is still a very serious disease, especially in Africa, it never did what they predicted.
The criticism is that he learned nothing and is repeating it with Covid-19.
Oh, I too was wrong about AIDS, but I learned.
