Carbon dioxide tax would exacerbate economic troubles...
[redstate.com]

In an amazing display of political tone-deafness, in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic, Wired magazine has devoted an entire issue to “How We Will Solve the Climate Crisis.” The issue comes out even as governments around the world are scrapping climate commitments, cutting subsidies to green energy, and focusing on fighting the coronavirus, first and foremost.

Even UN Secretary-General António Guterres recognizes the purported “existential” threat posed by climate change has been trumped by the very real destruction the coronavirus is wreaking upon peoples’ lives and livelihoods. In a mid-March online press conference, Guterres admitted action on climate change would have to be delayed as all the UN’s resources and programs would be directed at tackling the pandemic.

Wired suggests imposing a tax on carbon dioxide emissions shows political promise as one step to solving the climate crisis, citing a few Republican legislators who support a carbon dioxide tax makes it a palatable “bipartisan,” policy proposal.

Don't ventilators run on coal like Teslas and the internet?

Coal fired ventilators, hilarious and perfect 😂

@Supra_Librix No one using the internet believes in man made climate change.

@Facci I disagree, this gets at the root of the climate change divide, there are people that emphatically DO.

In real, physical terms, the atmosphere is a closed system.

the addition or subtraction of a single molecule of CO2 will change the climate.

Human activity emits something like 2 million pounds of it per second.

To say it has NO effect is disingenuous.

No one wants dirty air, my dream is a massive push for nuclear power.

Coal and oil are only used because they are the cheapest and easiest way to make KW.

Let's appease the greenies with cheap KW. If electricity were close to free, the cost of living would drop for everyone, there would be no reason to fight over oil, the result would be as close to world peace as humanly possible.

@Supra_Librix anyone who believed in man made climate change would never use the internet.

@Facci you have to use the tools at hand to invent a better one.

There is no better tool to do that than the internet.

If we had a series of nuclear power plants dedicated to capturing carbon out of the air and turning it into fuel, it would be stupid to dig a hole in the ground to get oil.

@Supra_Librix if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a wonderful Christmas. But you're in luck because chlorophyll plants already do that. Forests are expanding worldwide.

@Facci Yeah, I get it, but what would you rather spend the imaginary, government generated trillion dollars on?

If it were in free electricity, the cost of living would plummet. Every other problem is reduced...

Just planting the idea, pie in the sky, but so is having a peaceful democracy with an internet.

@Supra_Librix the only free electricity is in Nuclear. Once we're back to work and everyone gets exposed and the hospitals learn to treat this virus, we'll be fine.

@Facci I'm with you, we are watching the greatest hysteria ever imposed in history.

It would be hilarious if the repercussions weren't so dangerous.

No man can resolve something that is not man made.

Right on.

thats nothing. Oregon Governer Kate Brown instituted Carbon cap and trade by executive action as her first act under a state of emergency for Covid-19 within minutes. 7 days later she closed schools restaurants and issued social distancing measures. her law was modeled after California’s even after independence studies as well as CARB found that their actions actually increase net carbon output.

It's hard to maintain the narrative when reality gets in the way...
