Trump fires intelligence community IG Michael Atkinson, whose actions were instrumental in triggering impeachment...
[redstate.com]

On Friday, President Trump notified Congress of his decision to fire Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) Michael Atkinson. His removal from office will be effective in 30 days.

Atkinson received the infamous complaint from an anonymous whistleblower, believed to be CIA analyst Eric Ciaramella, which triggered the impeachment of President Trump.

There should be a thorough house cleaning at the CIA, the NSA, the FBI, and the DoJ. Each of these agencies is a disgrace. Where, for example, is the CIA in this pandemic? Are they trying to get to the truth or are they sitting on their hands?

The article makes it very clear Atkinson is being fired in retaliation for his part in the costly hoax. That may be true, but the letter from the Pres wisely made no inference to the impeachment debacle or the treachery of Atkinson. Whether Atkinson was just incompetent or knowingly started this foolishness that cost the country so much and impeded the president’s ability to serve this country, doesn’t matter. What does matter is that he has to go. How could his boss have confidence in his ability and/or willingness to do the job after that mess. If Atkinson is later brought up on charges and serves time for this hoax is an issue for a different day, but he should have a pick of cell mates starting with Shifty Schiff and maligNancy P. (IMO.)
